Emergency Food & Nutrition Crisis in Karamoja, Ug

By Jawanghe Joseph | Project Leader

Karamoja is facing one of its most severe hunger emergencies in recent years. Prolonged drought and failed seasonal rains since April have devastated harvests of maize, sorghum, and soybeans, leaving thousands of families without reliable food or income.
Today, an estimated 1.5 million people are at risk of malnutrition, while more than 430,000 people are experiencing acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 – Crisis or worse). Children and mothers are among the most vulnerable, with approximately 122,100 children under the age of five and 8,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women requiring urgent nutrition support.
The districts of Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, Karenga, and Nabilatuk are among the hardest hit, where families are skipping meals, livestock have weakened, and communities are struggling to survive.
Your support can provide life-saving food assistance, emergency nutrition for children and mothers, and help vulnerable families rebuild their resilience before this crisis worsens.
