Dear Valued Supporter,
Another impactful cycle of the Redress Design Award is coming to a close with our grand finale just behind us - in early September we welcomed the 2018 finalists to join us in our home of Hong Kong to take part a week of educational of educational challenges and events, and to present their waste reducing collections on the runway to an audience of 1,200 guests and over 2,000 more joining via livestream from all around the world.
Once again the finalists of this, the world’s largest sustainable fashion competition, demonstrated that sustainable fashion provides endless opportunities for positive transformation in the fashion industry. Tess Whitfort won First Prize with her bold, punk inspired collection made from up-cycled industry end-of-rolls and designed with complex zero-waste patterns; and is already back in Hong Kong working with The R Collective, the social impact business, to design a capsule collection for retail.
The 2019 cycle saw record numbers of impacts across our activities including:
Our finalists and semi-finalists now join our talent pool of alumni designers from previous competitions, who are leading the charge to put waste at the forefront of design, with 35 sustainable brands among them. Explore them here.
None of this would be possible with the ongoing support of our partners.
Thank you for supporting us and believing in the positive power of fashion. Every dollar helps us to move one step further so please consider donating to support our 2019 cycle, which will be strengthening our work in engaging emerging designers on the importance of moving towards a circular economy.
Best wishes,
Hannah
