Hitting new milestones in sustainable fashion education

By Hannah Lane | Communications and Sponsorship Director

Dear Valued Supporter,

2018 has already been another year of milestones for Redress!

  • In this first quarter we launched the 2018 cycle of our sustainable design competition with a rebrand from the Ecochic Design Award to Redress Design Award. This move has been met with overwhelmingly positive feedback and was made to align the competition more closely to the Redress name and our overarching vision to reduce textile waste and ultimately fuel a new circular economy for fashion. The mission of our flagship project stays strong as we continue to work to inspire our stakeholders to drive solutions to the growing problems in fashion.
  • For the first time we made the Redress Design Award truly global, and again have seen record numbers of applications from 56 different countries, many of them new including Bolivia, Estonia, Australia and Kenya. Applications are now with our expert panel of judges who will select the 30 Semi-Finalists who will be announced in mid-April.
  • We have broken another educational record with over 500 emerging designers attending our lectures and academies and more than 5,500 users visiting our online LEARN content so far in 2018.
  • We are thrilled to be reaching brand new audiences with information and inspiration around sustainable fashion design - Frontline Fashion 2, our TV documentary following the 2017 finalists through the final stages of the competition, has just been released with broadcast partner Lifetime Asia, airing in a primetime spot last Friday night to a potential 8 million+ audience. Watch the trailer here!

As the footprint of the Redress Design Award continues to grow, we are excited for the challenge ahead, particularly in solidifying our critical work with educators to shift fashion curriculums to address sustainability.

But we still need you! Your continued support and funding to our critical work in shifting the fashion industry forward is invaluable. Please give $15 today to support our work in educating the next generation of the fashion industry.

Many thanks,

Hannah
