We now have a number of monthly sponsors and once off donors. We are getting close to our target of 100 children for this program. We pay the money out to the mother's bank account, which is opened for the child. We make the payment every six months, as that is when school fees need to be paid and there is less temptation that the money will be used for other things. We could pay the money directly to the school,, but we have found in the past.. If we take responsibility for the education of the child. The parents will lose interest and handover total responsibility to us. We find it's better to give the money to the mother and that she will make the payment to the school. The money is also used for school books and uniforms. In India. If you don't have uniform you cannot go to school. And if your uniform is tatty and worn -looking the other children will make comments.
