I am delighted to share our latest report for this project. The key takeaways are:
Doorstep School’s School on Wheels programme reached 757 children across 12 locations this year, delivering nonformal education, foundational literacy and numeracy, library sessions, computer learning and mentalhealth support.
67% of children continued from last year, showing strong trust and retention.
Literacy proficiency rose to 92% and numeracy to 96%, with most children progressing multiple levels.
The team facilitated 31 formal school enrolments, conducted regular home visits, and ran diverse lifeskills, wellbeing and enrichment activities.
Stories like Neelam’s—a 9yearold whose health, confidence and learning transformed through consistent support—show how School on Wheels creates lasting change for children living in Mumbai’s most disadvantaged communities.
