Organize Menstrual Health Awareness Program & Distribute Materials.
PROSHIPS, a disability-focused and women-led organization based in Jamalpur, Bangladesh, continues to champion the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities, particularly women and adolescent girls. In line with our mission to break social barriers and promote inclusive health education, During Quarterly reporting Period on the date 30th October2025 , PROSHIPS organized a menstrual health awareness program that challenged deeply rooted taboos and stigma around menstruation. To create awareness and promote healthy, inclusive, and stigma-free dialogue about menstruation among women, adolescent girls in the disability and wider community. Upazilla Health Officer Mr. AHM Taher ,Upazilla Health Complex ,Islampur , Jamalpur district , Bangladesh were present as a chief guest . Chief guest impressed organizing the event.Beside Our Coworker is continuous Counselling and Motivation to adolescents girl with disabilities in the Class room and other community Places.
Orientation Session Conducted with A total of 20 women and adolescent girls participated in a targeted menstrual hygiene management (MHM) orientation session. The session included both girls and boys, fostering an inclusive environment to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage open communication across genders. Participants were encouraged to share their personal experiences, ask questions, and break the silence that often surrounds menstrual health, especially in marginalized communities. Information was shared on: Menstrual hygiene management (MHM), Use of hygienic products (e.g., sanitary pads), Menstrual health and its connection to self-esteem and well-being, Disability-inclusive considerations for menstrual care.
Conducted Orientation results and Outcomes are- Increased awareness and understanding of menstrual health among participants.Reduced stigma and improved confidence among adolescent girls to discuss menstruation openly.Boys developed empathy and awareness, helping foster a more supportive environment.Participants reported feeling respected, informed, and empowered.This initiative marked a transformative milestone in the lives of women and girls with disabilities in the communities.
Our conducted orientation have Challenges are:-Initial hesitance among participants due to cultural taboos.Limited access to affordable menstrual products for women with disabilities in rural areas.Need for continuous engagement to sustain behavioral and societal change.
Finally , PROSHIPS calls upon donors, partners, and stakeholders to support our continued efforts in inclusive menstrual health education and the provision of menstrual hygiene supplies to underserved women and girls in disaster-prone regions.Donate for inclusive environment to promote understanding, reduce stigma, and encourage open communication across genders. Together, we can build a future of dignity, equity, and health for all.
