During the reporting period, community awareness, support with entrepreneurship skills and expansion of livelihood base good agricultural practices and allied activities was the focused intervention among the vulnerable communities to reduce the impact of Covid 19 pandemic and reduce the barriers around them.

Our target group is small, marginalized farmers, returned migrant workers, daily wage earner, women headed households, farmers and young youths

General Health Checkup and Awareness camps:

In 100 villages meetings had been organized with the active engagement of peer leaders and increased awareness among the households regarding the new infections from Zika virus and fever symptoms now a days. In collaboration with the health department has taken steps to organize general health screening camps organized for women and children at the doorsteps of people of rural villages which are also effective in raising community awareness about symptoms, prevention, and treatment of common diseases during the days. During the camps, around 1000 women & children were examined by the health team and the medicines were also distributed among them. The people were also sensitized about health and hygiene and aware of various health schemes.

Promotion of Climate resilience Agriculture:

Millets being the traditional & climate resilience crop among the people which can be grown even in upland with very low water availability and high nutritious value in all respects. We have spread our reach to 4 blocks of three districts for this activity and cultivated it with the involvement of farmers. During the reporting periods, we have supported the farmers with seeds and various climate resilient adopted methodology and generate awareness through street play using audio visual, meetings, trainings, and millets mela. Now a days the women farmers are also taste their experiences on item recipes, snacks and campaigning it through demonstrated it in different places.

Training Support on Food baskets & Nutrition-garden support:

The important component in the livelihoods of rural poor, and in the rural economy of the country. Nutrition garden plays a vital role in providing daily requirements of nutrients through green leafy vegetables. The practice of homestead farming also promoting kitchen garden in so that women and children in that area get nutritious and balanced diet. Homestead gardens not only provide economic and health security but protect the environment and promote biodiversity. The training has been provided to the 100 households where an orientation is given on the food baskets and nutrition garden initiatives for the families to meet the nutrition value in the meals. This is demonstrated among the household where the backyard land uses and it became the source of constant supply of nutritious and vitamin enriched vegetables and food for disadvantageous households, who are earlier deprived of this opportunity and had restricted consumption to largely cereals and pulses to certain extent.

Skill training among the youths & women households:

YCDA has taken to strengthen women households, empower marginalized families and enable them to enhance their incomes and improve their quality of life through income generation activities, through skill building training programs. So that they can support their family and provide proper care and nurture for their children. YCDA provided training on sewing, beautician, vegetable vending, animal husbandry etc. focusing on women and youth girls and build their capacity to start up their own business. This training has been provided to 100 beneficiaries and they upgraded their skills and started up their small businesses. Regular monitoring is done, and they link in the groups and govt. schemes to avail themselves of the benefits.
