2nd Wave Post COVID Response in India :
Location:District: Boudh & Bolangir State: Odisha
Reporting Period: 1st August 2021 to 31st October 2021
Target group: Vulnerable families tested COVID positive, Returned Migrant workers, Daily wage earner, women headed households etc.
The following are the major activities undertaken in response to COVID19 Pandemic. The activities are undertaken with the financial assistants of GlobalGiving and other sources of the organization.
Facilitate district GO /NGOs coordination meeting:In the District: During the reporting period we have organized district coordination meeting with the active support of district emergency section. The objective of the meeting was to discuss various issues posed by COVID Pandemic and bring synergic effort to fight against COVID Pandemic and facilitate maximum vaccination coverage
Awareness campaign on COVID appropriate behavior: During this reporting period we have created mass awareness in the communities, discussed about precautionary measures/covid appropriate behaviors’ like use of face mask, practicing regular hand washing, avoiding unnecessary gatherings, physical distancing, do and don’t in home quarantine etc. In this process we could able to reach out more than 50,000 individuals directly and indirectly. Besides this Youth and Adolescent were engaged and sensitized through virtual mood and telecalling activities and encouraged them to facilitate vaccination registration, mobilized community for reducing vaccination hesitancy and covid appropriate behavior.
Distribution of Cooked food to the needy and vulnerable: Second wave post COVID situation also posed many challenges among vulnerable groups and communities, many households left with no work and no income, COVID positive family discriminated and suffered a lot, everything shut down, so looking in to the severity we have provided 3680 hot cooked meals to the needy and vulnerable families including children and adolescent.
Emergency response/distribution of dry food ration Kit:The COVID-19 2nd wave brought disruptions in the lives and livelihoods of the people and disturbed their source of income, millions of people lost their jobs and put their family members in the trap of poverty, child abuse, child marriage and domestic violence cases increased. So YCDA in a quick response provided dry food kits to over 1597 families of migrants, single parents, families of care givers, care leavers, differently able person, aged left with no one to support. Each dry food kit contained food grains which could keep a family sustained for 2 month.
Face masks distribution :YCDA organized sensitization programmes in different strategic locations of boudh and bolangir district with the collaboration of District Red Cross, District Emergency Department, Block administration and local committees, where we distributed over 3,000 face masks among different stakeholder’s i.e frontline health workers, community members and children.
Psychosocial Care for the Children: During the lock down period, school were closed, children were not allowed to move out, a fear psychosis prevailed due to various news and death news of near and dear one, therefore we constantly engaged with the family and children beyond the operational areas through tele calling, engaging children in various events like street play, storytelling, creative art, dancing, song, issues based performance etc. further to recognized their talents displayed their creative works in various plat forms.

COVID Vaccination for All: Now COVID-19 vaccines have reached billions of people worldwide; the evidence is overwhelming that no matter which one you take, the vaccines offer life-saving protection against a disease that has killed millions. Realizing the need of vaccination we have specifically dedicated ourselves to one CHC, where hesitancy and remoteness is existed. Following are the key activities undertaken during this reporting period.·
Supporting for Entrepreneurship Development: During this reporting period entrepreneurships development among the rural youth was also a focus, we have identified 197 young adults who are return migrants, unemployed youth, interested women members in the community willing to earn their livelihood through self employment. They had been enrolled in different trades (tailoring, beautician and mushroom cultivation) and undergone skills training in collaboration with different institutions.
Provide Critical Support to Care Leavers: Post COVID situation posed a challenge among the care leavers, they left with no job, unable to pay their house rent and maintain their daily needs. However after analyzing their situation 33 care leavers had been supported with their critical requirements food ,shelter, health, medicines etc.
