During the reporting period, promotion of Livelihood & Allied activities were the focused intervention among the vulnerable communities to reduce the impact of Covid 19 pandemic and lifting the barriers in and around them.
Promotion of Climate Resilient Agriculture:
Millets being the traditional & climate resilience crop among the people which can be grown even in upland with very low water availability and high nutritious value in all respect, we have joined hands in materializing the government efforts in the state. We have spread our reach to 4 blocks of three districts for this activity and cultivated 1538 hectors of lands with the involvement of 3342 farmers. During the period we have organized various village meetings, subsidized millets seeds distribution, helping in preparing seedbeds, demonstration of SMI practices and prepared various organic manure to promote NPM based cropping system.
Income Diversification and Agriculture Restoration:
Promotion and Strengthening of Producer Groups (PG): During these Period 3171 families of 55 villages involved through 24 PGs. With the support of Udgy Mitra and trained AEs and APC team members we could able to provide services on intervention, production and post production related services to different PG members. 2 lakhs being mobilized for 2 PG through OLM and Mission Shakti for business promotion. During this quarter 388 no. women received institutional credit linkage among 47 Self Help Groups (SHG), 1471 women members received income in their hand.
Agriculture and Horticulture:
During this reporting period a total of 1913 HH involved in production of High Value crops (Vegetable, Pulses, Oil seed and Paddy) in 1332.6 acres of land, out of which 623 acres of net area covered under high value vegetable crop production. A total of Rs. 4.18 lakhs mobilized form departments for production of high value crop. 53.5 acres fruit plant (Mango) plantation developed with the involvement of 48 households.
Adoption of NPM based practices:
172 NADEP pit constructed and 743 House Hold practicing Non Pesticides Management(NPM) in 498.4 acres of land, 2 number of Bio repellent units functional with the active involvement of 2 SHGs ( Dhekelmunda and Nuapali), they are prepare NPM based products and using their own field and providing other farmers with a minimal price.
Developing irrigation infrastructures:
This was a continuous effort to preserve rainwater and use this for agriculture purpose, during this reporting period we have created 66 New Farm Pond, which will help in ground water recharge and provide irrigation facilities for agriculture activity to 236 households, besides these 36 families mobilized to involved in pisciculture activities.
Promotion of Livestock:
During this reporting periods, we have run a special campaign on Live-stock Vaccination with the objective of reducing the livestock mortality, which has a greater negative impact on households’ income among the poor and vulnerable households. we have covered 100% vaccination among 3071 households with the support of Animal Husbandry Development Department, and we have observed less mortality during this period.
Promotion of Mushroom and Pisciculture:
During the reporting period we have mobilized and provided mushroom skills training to 114 households, the training facilitated both theory ad practical sessions, crop economics was one of the key elements to make the farmers understand the cost benefits of this activity, most of the women farmers earned a good income through this activity.
Promotion of Backyard Poultry :
6 Mother chick unit established with the financial support of department and partly contribution of respective entrepreneurs, this unit bring day old chick and keep them for 28 days with proper care and vaccination and sell out to vulnerable households with minimum support price around @ 60/chick and after three months, the same poultry birds collected from respective farmers for collective selling purpose and amount has been given to farmers @ 230/kg of the live birds, which has a good impact among the vulnerable households for their income enhancement and meet their regular expenditure.
Awareness through UDAAN ( Adolescent Groups) Meetings:
We have formed 319 UDAAN groups In 250 villages, during the reporting periods several rounds meeting had been organized with the active engagement of adolescent group and peer leaders, where near about 15000 adolescent boys and girls were participated, the objectives of the meeting was to create awareness among adolescents on Covid vaccination and creating a peer pressure to make 100% vaccination coverage among the eligible age groups and practice Covid 19 appropriate behavior, hand washing in critical time to reduce various diseases, and role of young adults to avoid life losses in any upcoming disaster situation. The program was quite interesting and successful with clear messages and students are very much enrolled in taking vaccine.
