During the reporting period, community awareness, Health camps and expansion of livelihood base good agricultural practices and allied activities was the focused intervention among the vulnerable communities to reduce the impact of Covid 19 pandemic and reduce the barriers around them.
Our target group is General Public, returned migrant workers, daily wage earner, women headed households, farmers , young adults and adolescents
General Health Checkup and Awareness camps:
In 100 villages meetings had been organized with the active engagement of adolescent groups and peer leaders and increased creating awareness among the households regarding the new infections now a days. In collaboration with the health department has taken steps to organize general health camps for women and children at the doorsteps of people of rural villages, so that all people get benefit from these camps. During the camps, around 500 women & children were examined for different ailments by the health team for lifestyles diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, while women & adoloscents girls were screened for reproductive health related issues, while free medicines were also distributed on the occasion among the women & children. Screening camps such as these are also effective in raising community awareness about symptoms, prevention, and treatment of common diseases during the days. The camp saw an overwhelming response from the general public of the locality as many people benefited from this camp. The people were also sensitized about health and hygiene and aware of various health schemes.
Community Awareness and adoption of Good Agriculture Practices:
Odisha has a tropical climate characterized by medium to high rainfall, high temperature and high humidity.During the reporting period we have given specific emphasis on promoting and capacity building of the farmers producer organization and producer groups in under different high value crop with required package of practice (POP) have been ensured, where the small farmers, migrant households and other vulnerable families included. Regular meetings have been organized in 24 producer groups. In the periods different farm produces like tomato, brinjal, Mango and watermelon aggregated in one place by the farmers and sold to the vendors.
Promotion of Climate resilience Agriculture:
Millets being the traditional & climate resilience crop among the people which can be grown even in upland with very low water availability and high nutritious value in all respect, we have joined hands in materializing the government efforts in the state. We have spread our reach to 4 blocks of three districts for this activity and cultivated 2538 hectors of land with the involvement of 5342 farmers. During the reporting periods, We have supported the farmers with seeds and various methodology have been adapted for generating awareness through experiences sharing like Preparing millets recipes, campaigning on through rath for procurement and value addition and demonstrated various .
Income Generating Activities among the Women Households:
YCDA’s intervened in an effective grass root practice initiated for the deprived and socio economically backward families. YCDA has taken to strengthen women households, empower marginalized families and enable them to enhance their incomes and improve their quality of life through income generation activities, agricultural practices, create access to government schemes /facilities through advocacy. Therefore, they can support their family and provide proper care and nurturing to their children. YCDA acts as a handholding supports and helps in capacity building of the Women households through various meetings, workshop and exposure. They provide training on business management system, financial benefits, and successful Income generation programs. They function by conducting monthly reviews and preparing business and loan disbursement plans. They promote income generation activities and work with revolving fund support plans as per the business requirement. Regular monitoring is done, and they link marginalized in the Self-help groups.
