Dear Donors,
Greetings from IDEA Foundation! I would like to submit a report on our Computer Literacy Program which you are suppoting with your generous contribution. You will be proud to know about the positive impact it is making in the lives of many underprivileged women.
As the inability to comprehend or access computers, the internet, and the digital world in general, is causing a new form of poverty among those who are already economically disadvantaged, we have joined hands with Government of India to promote National Digital Literacy Mission. We have 3 NDLM (National Digital Literacy Mission) centres now, situated at different parts of Pune city
Our NDLM centres are attracting many students. We are conducting regular 3 month courses in these centres with at least 3 batches daily.
As a part of digital literacy drive we also conducting awareness sessions and one day computer training in different community centres for women and young girls. These one day programs are mainly for women from underprivileged background to help them understand the importance of digital literacy in the present scenario. We explain to them the use of computer and smart phones to make their lives easy. This one day training program is giving them an idea of computer usage, by introducing them to simple computer applications.
We are also conducting different skill development classes in Pune for empowering women, which include tailoring, Art and Craft, Masala making, bag making and beautician courses. These courses are helping them to make a living. Many women who have joined IDEA skill development programs also attended our computer training programs. They are getting great instant help from these computer training programs. Introduction to technology has led to many creative social and economic interactions and products. Many of them are using computer now to apply for Aadhar cards ( Which is a mandatory identity document ) , to pay property tax for properties in their villages..etc, which they have never even dreamt of.
Many students tell us that the computer literacy program has made their life very easy. Technology is helping them to connect with markets and customers. Without the intervention of middlemen they get direct access to buyers for their products. Many of them are earning approx. Rs.10,000 per month as much as their husbands earn. They are thankful to IDEA Foundation for giving them right direction and support.
Thank you dear donors for supporting us and making their life better.
