Dear donors,
Wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2022!
May this new year bring solitude and peace in your life. Thank you for all the support that you have extended throughout the year. We request you to continue it with the same spirit so that the world moves towards equality. There are many girls out there waiting for your support to pick up basic knowledge of computer operation. They will find their fortune with digital assistance. One such aspiring girl is Sudha.
Here is a story of Sudha.
Sudha is 18 years old. She is in her second year of graduation in Commerce. Her parents came to Pune city in search of work about 15 years ago from their native place. Her father got a job as a crane driver. Sudha has also been a beneficiary of IDEA’s sponsorship program.
She recently completed a Digital Literacy course through IDEA Foundation. The course is part of NDLM (National Digital Literacy Mission) which is initiated with the vision to empower at least one person per household with crucial digital literacy skills. It includes introduction to the internet, Email and social media, E Commerce and IT security. We make sure that the girls use technology safely and avoid its dangers in the virtual world. We shifted our focus to online and blended mode during Covid time to keep in touch with all our beneficiaries.
Sudha was not familiar with computer operations before joining this course. She acquired basic computer knowledge initially. Now she is able to operate the computer with ease. She can confidently operate internet banking for online payments of bills, online booking, and shopping. She can also search information through search engines for her studies. She pays the electricity bill online and uses Google meet for virtual meetings. This is the greatest benefit that the digital world has offered to women. They have an easy access to financial services which were denied to them previously by the male dominated society. It has helped the girls realize their potential and have control over their decisions like money, expenditure and savings.
Sudha is also pursuing a course in Fashion Designing with us. Digital Literacy course was very beneficial for her because she is using that knowledge for this course and watching YouTube channels to learn latest fashion trends. It helps her enhance her skills in sewing. She feels that the course has prepared her well to face job interviews and get suitable employment in the coming future. We wish her all the best in the job hunt.
Sudha lives in a small two rooms rented house. There are five members in her family. Her father works as a crane driver and earns around 25,000 rupees a month. Her mother is a housewife. Sudha has two brothers who are studying in high school. She aspires to have a boutique of her own one day.
Your support means a lot to us and girls like Sudha. Please donate in the festive season and help more girls enter the digital world.
Happy New Year 2022!!
