Your Support in Action

Mothers’ Vision (MV)

This year, every child at Mothers’ Vision is fully sponsored — an incredible milestone! Funding covered food, essentials, and school fees for the whole year, giving each child security and hope.

We said goodbye to Damaris, who led the home with dedication for many years, and welcomed Hellen, a social worker now leading day-to-day care.

The children continue to thrive at school and enjoyed a much-loved Christmas party at a local hotel — swimming, games, and plenty of ice-cream!

Beyond the home, BBK funded three rounds of food support for widows and low-income families in Barani and Pentagon villages. Each £17 food parcel, sponsored by the Acorn Project, made a real difference.

Amini also helped distribute food to about 100 families, while Lucy received funding to feed street children four times during the year.

Jesus Healing Ministry (JHM)

The new home for 26 children at JHM has transformed lives — a safe, modern space surrounded by half an acre of fertile land now producing fruit and vegetables for both meals and income.

Ten young people completed secondary school this year. Thomas passed and has begun university; two students will resit exams in July, and others are looking at vocational courses.

BBK also helped three nearby families facing severe hardship — providing food, uniforms, and school fees for six children and a wheelchair for a father who lost his legs due to diabetes.

Barani Primary School (BPS)

Led by the inspiring Betty, Barani Village School continues to shine.

BBK funded uniforms for over 200 children, giving them confidence and pride. We also provided food, shoes, clothing, and school materials to those who need them most.

Our period-poverty project continues to grow. Reusable sanitary kits — made in Kenya — are distributed along with soap and underwear. Through video lessons, Betty teaches girls how to use and care for the products. This year we plan to expand and support local production of these items.

We also:

• Paid rent for two struggling families

• Arranged medical care for residents who couldn’t afford treatment

• Repaired 14 school toilets, improving hygiene and dignity for hundreds of pupils

Education Beyond School

Our university students continue to make us proud:

• Jumaa (MV) – Final year of an Engineering degree

• Hatson (JHM) – Third year, Education at St Paul’s University, Nairobi

• Thomas (JHM) – Began university in January 2025

• James – Studying Engineering in Mombasa

Helping Individuals and Families

• Mercy, a young girl who lost a leg, now receives new prosthetics as she grows — and uses her sewing machine to help make school uniforms.

• George, severely injured by electrocution, has had all his hospital care covered by BBK. His recovery is ongoing, and we hope he’ll soon return to work to support his family.

• Around six families now receive help with food, clothing, and school fees.

Chairperson’s Report

I’m pleased to present my first report as Chair of BBK. The charity has remained financially stable, and our work in Kenya continues to grow in reach and impact.

We welcomed Lynn Wyatt as our non-trustee treasurer following Margaret Hall’s resignation from that role. Margaret remains an active trustee, and Maureen Nevitt continues as Assistant Treasurer. Godstime David also joined us this year as Secretary (non-trustee).

Once again, we’d like to thank Mr. K. O’Brien, who kindly let BBK use an empty shop for three months leading up to Christmas 2024. This space helps us raise funds and awareness.

Special thanks to Caroline Warren for her ongoing commitment to Barani Village and School.

Throughout the year, BBK provided food parcels to Barani and Pentagon Villages three times. We also supported people living on the streets of Mombasa at Christmas with food and essentials.

Although no team members visited Kenya in 2024, trustees remained in close contact via meetings and WhatsApp to make decisions about funding and support.

We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers, sponsors, Acorn Project, Rotary Club, and our regular donors. Your support makes everything possible.

Highlights of 2024–2025

Mothers’ Vision (MV)

All children at MV are now fully sponsored. BBK has provided funding for food, school supplies, and essentials for the entire year.

There has been a change in leadership — Hellen, a qualified social worker, now manages MV after Damaris stepped down. We’re thankful to Damaris for her many years of service.

The children are doing well at school and enjoyed a Christmas party at a local hotel — full of games, swimming, a hot meal, and ice cream!

BBK also supported three rounds of food deliveries to widows and low-income families in Barani and Pentagon villages.

Barani Primary School (BPS)

BBK worked with Betty, a dedicated school leader in Barani Village, to support hundreds of students.

This year, BBK funded:

• Uniforms for over 200 children

• Food, shoes, clothes, school supplies, and fees

• Ongoing rent support for two extremely poor families

We also delivered our Period Poverty Programme:

• Reusable sanitary towels, soap, and underwear were given to girls

• School teacher Betty uses a video link to teach students how to use the items

• Products are sourced from a local Kenyan supplier, and we hope to support more local production in future

Medical care was also arranged for those in the community who couldn’t afford treatment.

In addition, BBK funded the repair of 14 school toilets, improving sanitation across the school.

University Students

BBK proudly supports young people working toward their degrees:

• Jumaa (MV) – Final year, Engineering

• Hatson (JHM) – Third year, Education at St. Paul’s University

• Thomas (JHM) – First year at university

• James – Studying Engineering in Mombasa

Each student receives annual tuition support, helping them build brighter futures.

Helping Individuals & Families

BBK also provides support to individuals and families in crisis:

• Mercy, a young girl with a prosthetic leg, continues to receive new fittings as she grows. She now helps make school uniforms with her sewing machine.

• George, who suffered a serious electric shock in February, has had all hospital treatment covered by BBK. His condition is improving — his head and back are healing, and treatment for his hands is ongoing.

• BBK has extended support to six families, helping with school fees, food, and clothing for children in need.

Financial Summary

Our accounts for 2024–2025 have been independently reviewed and show that BBK is in a healthy financial position. We continue to make sure that donations go directly to those in need.

Looking Ahead

In 2024–2025, BBK has:

• Fully supported children’s homes, schools, and families

• Provided over 300 uniforms

• Delivered food to hundreds of families

• Repaired school facilities

• Funded university education

• Offered support to individuals facing medical emergencies
