We believe in the transformative power of documentaries to inspire and educate the next generation of changemakers. SIMA Academy’s award-winning short documentaries bring Media Literacy, Critical Thinking, Global Citizenship and Cross-cultural education via first-class authentic storytelling resources to students and changemakers worldwide. We currently serve 146,930 learners in 106 countries.

SIMA Academy’s global, ever-current and expansive streaming platform presents the gold standard of social issue cinematic storytelling. It provides access to a carefully curated collection of over 275 award-winning short documentaries alongside learning resources and participatory skill-building lessons.

This month the winner of the inaugural SIMA India SDG Challenge was announced, which invites educators to submit the real-world impact that SIMA Academy films inspired in their classrooms. Congratulations to our winning educator and changemaker based in Bangalore, India. As part of the initiative, the short films Tea Consent and Can’t Hide Me, The Story of Stuff and Tuning The Student Mind were screened, fostering discussions and impact projects on sustainable consumption, gender equality, and quality education. Her work connected the concept of responsible global citizenship with practical actions, using art, dance performances, and magazine creations that spread awareness within the local community. The project directly empowered students to think critically about their role in social change and their capacity to make a positive impact on society.

For the third year in a row we partnered with the student-led Changemaker Conference. This year’s Beyond the Future Conference was hosted at the American International School of Budapest (AISB) where SIMA facilitated a movie night and the kick off of the SDG Challenge for the 16 international schools attending the event. This inspiring event brought together students, educators, and experts from across the region to explore how young people can drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

Also, to advance SDG education amongst students, faculty, and staff in higher education, SIMA hosted a signature workshop and short film screenings to bring the SDG’s to life using the power of film during the 2025 SDG Action and Awareness Week organized by the University Global Coalition.This unique event showcased a curated selection of short films: Detroit Hives, Cross World and Words of Changemaker exploring the issues of environmental sustainability, urban agriculture, plastic pollution, social entrepreneurship, advocacy, gender equality and child marriage.

Additionally, we were honored to be part of the online symposium on Creativity, Consciousness and The Future at University of Michigan together with leaders of initiatives dedicated to the pivotal place of the arts, creativity, consciousness and spirituality in navigating the complexities, as well as uncovering evolutionary openings, inherent in this extraordinary moment in history.

Last but but not least, we started the new year strengthening the ongoing collaborations with strategic partners such as UNESCO APCEIU - Global Citizenship Education Online Campus, Inspire Citizens’ Global Citizenship Certificate, Serve Cerebral courses Connecting Neuroscience and Service, the Institute of Humane Education Solutionary courses and the Global Lighthouse Studios workshops. Tailor made content partnerships with them guarantee that these valued and innovative partners can smoothly integrate SIMA films to enrich their transformative education programs and initiatives.

SIMA Academy’s award-winning short documentaries globally sourced from the annual Social Impact Media Awards, bring Media Literacy, Critical Thinking, Global Citizenship and Cross-cultural education via first-class authentic storytelling resources to changemakers worldwide. We currently serve 146,930 learners in 106 countries.

SIMA Academy is a global, ever-current and expansive streaming platform presenting the gold standard of social issue cinematic storytelling. It provides access to a carefully curated collection of over 260 award-winning short documentaries and virtual reality films with learning resources and participatory skill-building lesson plans.

Committed to keep spreading the word and in collaboration with The Global Citizenship Foundation, we co-organized the ICTE 2024 -International Conference on Transformative Education where thousands of education stakeholders from 70+ countries join virtually. Also, hundreds of educators were exposed to SIMA Academy at The Global Learning for an Open World (GLOW) Conference, a virtual launchpad for revolutionary teaching practices that transcend borders.

Additionally, SIMA partnered with The Global Citizenship Diploma to bring global citizenship and cross-cultural education to their consortium of international schools in 10 different countries.

Last but not least, a huge shout out to the winners of the annual global SIMA Changemaker Award, designed to celebrate educators and students who have utilized SIMA’s social impact films as an inspiration for their own creative impact projects. This year, inspired by SIMA films, an art teacher from India and her 11th graders:

Sparked a discussion on the fashion industry and its by-products, leading them to organize a sustainable fashion show using fabric scraps, waste items, and old materials.
Initiated discussions on beauty standards, promoted organic products over chemical-based ones, and set up a counseling counter in the infirmary offering natural acne treatments to raise awareness about health and inner beauty.
Visited a local school for blind people and created a Teachers' Training Manual Audio Book for visually impaired students, helping them prepare for the TET exams and empowering future educators.

To close an impactful 2024, we are proud to share that SIMA Academy won The Anthem Awards for the second year in a row. Thank you for this distinguished honor and for supporting our mission to advance educational initiatives in media literacy, leadership, cross-cultural collaboration, and global citizenship worldwide.

Selected from the finalists and winners of the annual Social Impact Media Awards, SIMA Academy is a global, ever-current and expansive streaming platform presenting the gold standard of social issue cinematic storytelling. It provides access to a carefully curated collection of over 230 award-winning short documentaries and Virtual Reality films with learning resources and participatory skill-building lesson plans.

More than 300 educators from across the globe joined the fourth edition of The SDG Challenge: Advancing Media Information Literacy and Global Citizenship Education Through The Power Of Film in partnership with UNESCO-APCEIU. During the course, participants explore the power of film to take their students beyond school walls, inspiring them to be media and information literate global citizens and active contributors to a more equitable and sustainable world. Also, on its first country edition, we have launched the SIMA India SDG Challenge inaugurating the first cohort of educators in India who are integrating authentic storytelling to create lasting impact in their school and community.

Additionally, grassroot organizations and youth networks such as Girl Up Initiative Uganda and The Millenium Campus Network have renewed their commitment and enthusiasm to integrate SIMA Academy films into their innovative curriculums to nurture young changemakers’ leadership skills.

Last but not least, SIMA is proud to announce the pioneering collaboration with Serve Cerebral, an educational Neuroscience company, which demonstrates the neurological impact of Impactful Action, Service Learning, and Community Engagement.
