Serving over 117,000 students, educators and leaders in 104+ countries with award-winning short documentaries globally sourced from the annual Social Impact Media Awards, SIMA Academy brings Media Literacy, Critical Thinking, Global Citizenship and Cross-cultural education via first-class authentic storytelling resources to changemakers worldwide.

We are thrilled to announce that SIMA has partnered with The United Nations SDG Action Campaign #Act4SDGs to bring SIMA Academy to over 1,600 partners worldwide leveraging the power of video storytelling to drive SDG impact and build a more equitable future for all. Also, in collaboration with The Global Citizenship Foundation, we co-organized the International Conference on Transformative Education 2023 where thousands of education leaders, policymakers, practitioners, and educators from more than 70 countries joined virtually. 

A huge shout out to the educators winning the 3rd edition of the UNESCO-APCEIU SDG Challenge among 290 participants! These changemakers designed and implemented remarkable impact campaigns using the power of film to advance the SDGs while equipping 3,000+ middle schoolers, highschool and college students from India, Sri Lanka, China, Philippines, Indonesia and Ghana on Media Information Literacy and Global Citizenship.

Sponsored by SIMA STUDIOS and Global Exploration For Educators Organization (GEEO) and in partnership with our partners Global Lighthouse Studios, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), Frankfurt International School and Lynn University, we proudly announced the winners and special mentions of The annual global SIMA Changemaker Award. From podcasts, poetry workshops, and tree planting campaigns to the integration of social impact into the curriculum of college social entrepreneurship classes and entire K-12 schools, we celebrate students and young leaders who have utilized SIMA’s social impact films as an inspiration for their own creative impact projects, and recognizing the outstanding achievements of educators using SIMA resources to foster global competencies and inspire the next generation of changemakers.

Last but not least, to close an impactful 2023, SIMA Academy was honored as Finalist in The Anthem Awards 2023, celebrating organizations that spark global change. Thank you for this distinguished nomination.

Selected from the finalists and winners of the annual Social Impact Media Awards, SIMA Academy is a global, ever-current and expansive streaming platform presenting the gold standard of social issue cinematic storytelling. It provides access to a carefully curated collection of over 230 award-winning short documentaries and Virtual Reality films with learning resources and participatory skill-building lesson plans. 

In June, 180 educators from across the globe joined the third edition of The SDG Challenge: Advancing Media Information Literacy and Global Citizenship Education Through The Power Of Film in partnership with UNESCO-APCEIU. During the course, participants explore the power of film to take their students beyond school walls, inspiring them to be media and information literate global citizens and active contributors to a more equitable and sustainable world. 

Leading educational institutions such as The Center for Sustainable Development, Earth Institute at Columbia University and The Ban-Ki Moon Center for Global Citizens have integrated SIMA Academy films into their innovative curriculums to nurture young changemakers’ leadership skills.

We are proud to share that we have joined forces with Thaki to support their mission of empowering refugee and disadvantaged children to learn and thrive through self-paced, motivational electronic tools. Also, we partnered with Girl Up Initiative Uganda to bring our robust catalog of educational and social impact films to their School Adolescent Programs.

Last but not least, this month we announced a pioneering collaboration with Unplastify, a  three-month international education program designed for educators to empower students to develop their own unplastifying ideas and be true changemakers.
