Students getting knowledge about Chlorine Solution
Students getting knowledge about Chlorine Solution

In the last week of August, I had a visit in the slum area located at Bansighat of Kathmandu District. Mrs. Sita and Mrs. Meena seemed to be very happy when I went to their house. Their happiness is due to the use of Tulip Water filter which was distributed in the month of Feb and March. “Thank you very much for supporting us through providing the filter. Now a days, we feel very safe towards using our water for drinking purpose. We don’t have to deal with the issues related with water born diseases and now we also do not need to spend much of our energy for treating water” Mr. Yadav, a resident of slum area located in Shantinagar of Kathmandu expressed his views when we mate after 6 month from the distribution of Tulip water filter in the slum area.

Ms. Sarada, a social worker advocating for improving living standards of workers in Brick Kilns expressed “The use of Tulip filter had really helped the people towards accessing safe and clean drinking water. Prior to that, the workers in the Brick Kilns didn’t use any water purification system and as a result, we used to provide medication for various water born diseases. But, now we are focusing in other issues than water born diseases”.

As school requires high volume of water for the use by students, we are also promoting Chlorination as an effective water treatment method. 52 schools of various locations are now using chlorine solution for treating water in their schools. As we are promoting the technology to produce their own chlorine solution in their school through simple electrolysis method, the demand of transferring this technology is increasing. Hence, we are increasing the frequency of training programs and orientation programs for the production and use of chlorine solution in school for students and teachers.

We would like to express our gratitude for your belief in us and supporting financially in our activities and campaign to promote safe water for all in Nepal. Furthermore, I would like to request you to share the information of our project and request your friends and families. GlobalGiving is hosting September Fundraiser event in this whole month. Hence, we seek support through spreading out the message of September fundraiser and help us achieve our target very soon through securing additional funds.

We hope for the same type of support in the days to come ahead. Please like our Facebook page to get updates regarding our activities and follow us on Twitter to get our tweets. We are also looking forward towards your valuable suggestions and comments regarding our works as well.

Sincerely,

Angel Chitrakar
