With a goal to provide safe drinking water access to the students, 22 water filters (13 liters capacity) and 22 water filters (18 liters capacity) were distributed to 9 schools of Bheri Municipality, located in Jajarkot district in western Nepal. Each of these stainless-steel body water filters are fitted with silver colloidal ceramic candle, which is capable of removing protozoans along with turbidity. These ceramic candles (named as Tulip candles) are designed by Basic Water Needs, Netherlands. Before the distribution, an orientation was provided to the students and teachers regarding the use of water filters and proper cleaning of the ceramic candles. None of these schools had a proper water purifying system. Previously, the students were drinking water from the tap itself.
A teacher from one of the schools thanked for the support and shared "Students used to drink water directly from the tap nearby the school. Now they have easy access to safe drinking water inside their classroom. They can drink enough water to keep themselves hydrated".
We thank you for the support.
