With the increasing awareness programs and activities related towards implementations of safe drinking water campaign, clear and common vision among all the key stakeholders will support towards achieving a desired outcome. Hence, in order to develop a common vision and understanding towards need of safe drinking water and its promotion in local communities through students and women’s groups, a one day vision workshop was organized in Bungamati on 21st February 2014. A total of 27 participants from key stakeholder’s representing women members from Bhokha Women’s Group, students and teachers from Tri-Ratna Cooperative School and Zing Boarding School had actively participated in the program.

Mr. Rupendra Maharjan – resource person on appreciative inquiry and visioning supported us to facilitate the workshop. A vigorous discussion on the topic towards “How Bungamati Community could be developed as a Safe Water Zone” was discussed in the program. Group discussions, sharing of experience, understanding and insight regarding what people could and should do for the declaration of safe water zone was done during the event. The workshop supported the participants to generate new ideas, proposals, concerns and questions which will support to achieve to meet the objective for the declaration of safe water zone.

It is my first time participating in these types of training. And this program is very fruitful for me because it taught me a lot about why do we need safe water in our community and how to get it. I will share my learning from this training program with our other members in our group. – Ms. Ashta Maya Tuladhar (President – Bhokha Women’s Group).

Students from our school are very active towards the implementation of Safe Drinking Water program in our school as well as in our community. They organizes lot of activities like placing stall in local community, organizes door to door campaign etc targeting to aware locals towards the need of safe water in day to day life. This workshop supported our students along with us to develop a common vision and the direction in which we should act on to declare our community a Safe Water Zone. Thanks to ECCA for organizing these type of valuable workshop for us. – Ms. Mamita Shakya (Teacher)
