Better WASH for Healthy Nepal

Information dissemination plays a vital role towards awareness on different issues and changing habits which will ultimately impact the day to day lifestyle of people. Hence, as a part of information dissemination to public on Safe Drinking Water Campaign, wall paintings were done in seven different schools located in Kathmandu valley as well as in rural areas. With the day to day visibility of the message through wall paintings, people are continuously aware regarding the requirements of use of safe drinking water in their day to day life, ultimately changing their habit and lifestyle.

4. Tika Bhairab English Secondary School, Tika Bhairab English School
5. Kanchan Secondary School, Chapagou, Lalitpur
6. Jalpa Secondary School, Dhapakhel, Lalitpur
7. Padhma Prakash Secondary School, Dhapakhel, Lalitpur

Along with information dissemination, availability of infrastructure for a particular purpose also plays an important part towards changing the habit and lifestyle of people. Hence, as an infrastructural support to the students in order to make them accessible towards safe drinking water, water dispensaries including water jar’s were supported in six different schools mentioned as follows:

2. Tikabhairab English Secondary School, Tikabhairab, Lalitpur
3. Kitini Hihger Secondary School, Taukhel, Laitpur
4. Balkumari Secondary School, Prayagpokhari, Lalitpur
5. Lalit Kalyan Lower Secondary School, Bholdhoka, Lalitpur
6. Mahendra Gram Secondary School, Tikathali, Lalitpur

Nature Club members add chlorine solution in jar for providing safe drinking water to the students of their school. “Installation of water dispenser with jar in different location of school had made us very easy access to safe water during the school operation. Previously, it was very hard for us to use chlorine as we required to climb up in he water tank, which is also very risky for us” – Suraj Tamang, Nature Club President of Kitini Higher Secondary School.
