Still Building Momentum While Projects Queue Up
Thanks to your support, our newest Community Health & Empowerment Clubs (CHECs) are staying active and organized as they prepare to launch their “big” income-generating projects. While we’ve experienced some Rotary-related delays that have pushed back project start dates, the groups have not been idle—they’ve been strengthening their financial foundation through table banking and merry-go-round savings groups.
What’s happening now in the four newest CHECs
Maugo – Continuing to grow savings through table banking while awaiting the green light to begin the main income project.
Nyamokenye – Members are staying engaged through table banking and merry-go-round groups as they wait to begin the primary project.
Kimuka – Big milestone: the chicken coop is complete, setting the village up to move quickly once project inputs are released.
Soklo (Mfangano Island) – The community is prepping land now for upcoming vegetable and groundnut farming, so planting can begin as soon as start-up funds/materials are available.
Why this stage matters
This “waiting period” is actually strengthening long-term success. The savings groups build financial discipline, create small internal loan capacity, and keep members meeting regularly—so when the major projects launch, the groups are ready to manage money, plan together, and reinvest profits.
Thank you for sticking with us and for believing in community-led change. Your support is helping villages move from training to real livelihoods—step by step, and built to last.
