Hiya* Pramanik studies in 3rd Standard at the model school ‘Kishalaya Sishu Siksha Niketan’ run by Sabuj Sangha at remote Nandakumarpur village of deep Sunderbans. Hiya has a strong and pleasant among presence among her fellow mates.
As Computer Classes starts from 3rd standard Hiya* started learning the same. Soon it was observed that she is a fast learner. Baibhav Kumar*, the computer teacher says, “Being their first year I can say that Hiya is smart enough in the computer class.”
She has fast learnt to change the screen saver, set the time in the taskbar of computer. In an wondrous joy she shouts “Sir, I can change the time in the computer. And I can watch how long I have been there in the computer lab.” It is a real pleasure that a child from deep remote Sunderbans learning and enjoying computer fast with joy in her eyes.
Hiya can write her name in the Microsoft office word. In her own words, “I can write my name in the Office Word and I can change its front size.” She can draw picture in the paint application. She can use almost all the tools in the Paint Application.
Her father, Shyam* Pramanik who works in Delhi as a driver once expressed his feelings, “Being poor we never thought that my child will ever learn computer. But the educational wing of Sabuj Sangha Kishalaya Sishu Siksha Niketan is like an angle to us. I am really happy that Hiya is learning computer in her school.”
We are deeply grateful to all those who supported and also conitnued that, to make the children of remote Sunderbans villages have access and able to learn computers.
