15 Minutes On The Phone Changed Pam's Life!

Pam's husband came home, began screaming at her, pushed her against the wall several times, kicked her when she fell to the ground and raped her. This had happened several times over the past year. Every time her husband would  cry, say he was sorry, beg for her forgiveness and promise it wouldn't happen again. This time, after his apologies, she waited until he was asleeep, and snuck out of the house with her son and daughter. She called a friend of hers that lives outside of Rome. When Pam called us she was hiding at her friend's house. She was terrified and didn't know what to do. One of our advocates helped Pam understand her options and set into motion a plan to get them to safety. Pam has since left her husband and is living back in the USA, with her children.

Because of donations like yours, battered American mothers receive life saving minutes on the international toll free hotline, 866-USWOMEN.

We can't thank you enough for believing in our mission and in helping American victims abroad!

Chelsea Is Safe Because Of You!

When Chelsea joined the military she was excited to serve her country with her husband and be stationed overseas. At first her husband began to criticize the way she wore her hair or dressed when the would go out. Then he started accusing her of having affairs with other men on the base. He would question her relentlessly if she just went shopping. When he started pushing and hitting Chelsea she knew she was in trouble. One night, in a fit of rage, he strangled Chelsea.

Chelsea went to the family advocate at the base. The family advocate contacted AODVC and one of our case managers assisted in getting Chelsea into safe housing while she navigated the Military domestic violence program.

It is donations like yours that help us assist Military victims when they need assistance outside of what the Military can provide. Thank you so much for believing in our mission!

Mia and Jacob Have A Safe Home Because Of You!

One year after Mia was married, her husband was given a fabulous job opportunity in Ireland. Soon after they moved to Ireland she found out she was pregnant. Her husband became moodier and moodier, screaming and hitting the wall, then Mia. When Mia told her husband she wanted to go home to her mother in the USA and have the baby, he pushed her to the ground then locked her inside the house. She was terrified the force of the fall hurt her baby, but luckily, it didn't. Mia had the baby in Ireland. She throught the abuse would stop once Jacob was born. It didn't. In desperation, Mia told Jacob's doctor and the doctor advised Mia call AODVC.

That first phone call was the beginning of a new life for Mia and Jacob. Because of donations like yours, Mia is home with Jacob and living with her mother in the USA. They are happy and safe.

Here is a note from Mia: "What I thought would be the most wonderful experience of my life turned into a nightmare. Thank God for the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center! I didn't want Jacob growing up to think it was okay to hit a woman. I think you may have saved my life."

Your donations help save lives! Thank you for believing in our mission!
