VIDA is partnered with the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil, a 115-year old charity based in Guayaquil that operates large hospitals as well as several clinics and nursing homes in this large port city. They provide free medical care to 500,000 patients a year who are among Ecuador’s poorest citizens. VIDA provides them with medical supplies and equipment that they desperately need and helps to alleviate costs in serving the poor. Junta’s vast network makes them particularly effective in responding to the regions impacted by the quake.
VIDA needs your help!VIDA covers all costs of the shipment and we need to raise additional funds to send our next container. This container to Guayaquil will primarily carry medical equipment donated from local Bay Area hospitals. Hospital beds, gurneys, exam tables, wheelchairs, walkers, crutches and other ambulatory equipment will fill the container to the brim. On an ongoing basis we drive around the Bay for scheduled equipment donations -so that when an event happens - such as this earthquake - we are fully prepared to respond in Latin America.
Your support will go directly to covering the shipping costs and import fees!
Thank you for helping us to achieve our goals.

VIDA supports medical missions to Haiti
By Adam See - Executive Director
VIDA remains fully committed to this impoverished country that has now receded into the background after the slew of hurricanes that have hit the Caribbean, Texas and Florida as well as the earthquakes in Mexico. The problems and struggles remain overwhelming for the people of Haiti.
VIDA is continuing to send additional aid to our project in Cayes Jacmel which is still reeling from the effects of the devastating earthquake. A group of physicians led by Dr. Magloir continues to visit Haiti twice a year, bringing with them donated supplies and equipment from VIDA. Thanks to the generosity of so many, thousands of impoverished Haitians have received care. The group has carried over 50 suitcases of expensive respiratory supplies and equipment along with patient care materials. The value of the materials was in excess of $50,000. These types of shipments will continue twice a year due to your support.VIDA has also been donating supplies to a variety of doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals who travel to Haiti on medical missions around the country.VIDA has found that this is a highly effective model in serving small communities outside the urban centers.
VIDA thanks the GlobalGiving Community for your support.

Three Shipments on the Water to Peru!
By Adam See - Executive Director
Container being loaded at the VIDA USA warehouse.
VIDA thanks GlobalGiving donors for your support! VIDA has made a total of nine shipments (ocean and air) carrying nearly $10 million in aid in response to the tragic flooding. 800,000 homeless, 300 plus hospitals/clinics destroyed and the infrastructure is devastated - roads and bridges washed out and entire communities swept clean.
VIDA is working with our partners and the government to help rebuild the healthcare infrastructure. The government is dedicating transportation resources to transport the aid to the impacted communities and we are ramping up our efforts.
To that end, VIDA is making 12 additonal shipments by sea and air to Peru over the next 12 weeks. We are excited to announce that three of four containers has left the VIDA warehouse carrying $1,000,000 in aid!
We are in the process of securing funding for the next 8 containers and appreciate the support of the GlobalGiving community!
