This project will fund pick up and or distribution of hospital beds, medical exam tables, surgical gowns, hampers and much more from and to several hospitals expanding services in the 6 bay area counties.
Local hospitals are in need of medical equipment asap as they expand and prepare for an increase in positive cases of the cornoavirus. As testing ramps up the demand will be heavy. Our impact is immediate for the doctors and nurses deployed to the expanded triage areas.
We are in a unique situation to be able to deliver the equipment yesterday, today, tomorrow and for the next 8-36 weeks. The need is now. We typically have a warehouse full of donated supplies in various stages of sorting and shipping to Latin America. Now we are in the unique position to give back to the hospital community that has supported us for 30 years. Hospital beds will be occupied immediately. We are already responding on a daily basis.
Ideally a COVID-19 response is not a long term need - based on results in China, South Korea and Japan where the reported cases are dropping daily - we expect the peak hits California within months. If needed we are prepared to provide indefinately.
