This project will provide direct medical assistance for doctors and nurse in hospitals and clinics throughout Peru. We are in a position to accelerate our shipments - preparing containers weekly stuffed with donated medical equipment and supplies to ship to Lima and forsee a longterm need.
The Peruvian government declared a national state of emergency on March 15, 2020. Under the state of emergency, Peru enacted 15 days of mandatory quarantine, March 16, 2020. Then closed all international borders (land, air, and maritime) and suspended all interprovincial travel within Peru (land, air, and river) in an effort to contain the COVID- 19 outbreak which is growing rapidly.
VIDA USA is immediately shipped 2 containers loaded with donated medical supplies and equipment by sea. Fortunately our typical year round support had two shipments arriving in the Callao port shortly. We will continue to for the ship long term.
We are in place in Peru - 90 clinics - over 30 years - we are well suited to be effective now and for another 30 years.
