First Emfasis Foundation Project team report

Emfasis Foundation Project team has:

-           held a number of meetings with the respective ministry authorities in order to obtain the necessary permits for access to the hotspots and other children safe areas, such as off campus schools and creative activities


-           conducted 5 site inspections in order to assess safety and peak hours for best outcomes in terms of participation

-           created an information leaflet in Arabic in order to showcase in simple children language the principles of the projects, how to participate etc

-           identified the Chief Photographer/Streetworker who has started his employment under the project as of October 1st

-           Disseminated the news within its volunteers and identified children specialized street workers to assist. As a result, we held 5 training sessions to all participating volunteers

-           Senior Children Psychologists have created the confidential assessment for each child/young participant for its individual psychological evaluation

-           Approached the only Greek manufacturer and supplier of Greek photo cameras, laptops and cameras, PLAISIO, and has requested from its CSR department to consider subsidizing a number of such tools and offering the rest to Emfasis Foundation at cost price

-           Included the Mobile Support Unit in the training sessions, in order to be able to move safely the equipment of the project

EMFASIS' Temporary Housing: April - June 2016

TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR HOMELESS YOUTH

 

The project "Temporary Housing for Homeless Youth"  offers on a weekly basis, shelter to our fellow homeless citizens in our Partner Hostel in the center of Athens. This project provides support to people who live on the streets and have to cope with:

  • Extreme weather conditions (low or high temperature, rain)
  • The absence of the necessary personal hygiene
  • Lack of feeling secureand of personal time

 

Program “Adoption of an Emfasis Social Street Worker”:

In order to make our program run efficiently we proceeded to 2 volunteer adoptions for a total work of 3 months (April-May-June).

  • Adoption of an Emfasis’ Volunteer 1 (Mobile Support Unit Driver):                  1.350,00
  • Adoption of an Emfasis’ Volunteer 1 (Senior Street Worker - Psychologist):    1.200,00
  • Adoption of an Emfasis’ Volunteer 2 (Junior Street Worker – Social Worker):     750,00

                                                                                                      TOTAL COST:      3.300,00

 

 

Supporting the actions of Mobile Support Unit  (April –June 2016):

  • Cost of fuels for our 2 Mobile Support Units:                                                                          280,00 €
  • Daily receiving from Super Markets and Mini Stores (food personal hygiene products ):     867,02 €

                                                                                                                              TOTAL COST:  1.147,02

 

 

Temporary housing for homeless youth in hotels located in the center of Athens:

4th Phase - April 1st – June 30th  

We offered temporary hospitality to  34  beneficiaries  at our Partner Hotels.
The cost per night was  20,00 €.

  • 12 Beneficiaries were offered Temporary Hospitality for  1 night.
  • 15 Beneficiaries were offered Temporary Hospitality for  2 nights.
  •   7 Beneficiaries were offered Temporary Hospitality for  3 nights.

                                                                                  TOTAL COST FOR 34 BENEFICIARIES:      1.440,00

 

Temporary housing for homeless youth in hotels located in the center of Athens:

The beneficiaries who participated in the program were 34 in total.

Indicatively:

  • Mr. M. hosted with his daughter for 3 nights: He is a refugee from Syria. His wife is dead and he has come with his daughter, 3, in Greece. His daughter’s heart problem got serious during their stay in Ellinikon area, so after her hospital discharge, we offered them accommodation in order for her to recover.
  • Mrs. D. hosted with her son for 2 nights: Mrs. D. is 59 years old and needed a shelter during the high temperatures in June. She couldn’t leave her son, 23, behind as he is mentally ill, so we offered both of them hospitality.
  • Mr. B. hosted for 1 night:He was in need of taking care his personal hygiene.
  • Mr. G. hosted for 1 night:He was in great need of a safe shelter due to his recent homelessness.

In the meantime, participants received material and psychological support, as well as employment advisory by Emfasis Social Support Corner and continued individual meetings with the Street Work team.

Aim of the Project:

  • Adoption of an Emfasis’ Volunteer 1 (Senior Street Worker):   1.200,00 €

  • Adoption of an Emfasis’ Volunteer 2 (Junior Street Worker):      750,00 €

 2. Supporting the actions of Mobile Support Unit (January –March 2016):

  • Cost of fuels for our 2 Mobile Support Units:  150,00 €

  • Daily receiving from Super Markets and Mini Stores (food and personal hygiene products ):  80,00 €

 

                                                                                TOTAL COST:     230,00 €

 

3. We offered temporary hospitality to 23 beneficiaries at our Partner Hotels.
   
The cost per night was 20,00 €.

 

 

  • To   8 Beneficiaries we offered Temporary Hospitality for 1 night.
  • To   4 Beneficiaries we offered Temporary Hospitality for 2 nights. 

  • To 11 Beneficiaries we offered Temporary Hospitality for 3 nights.

 

  
                                                                TOTAL COST FOR 23 BENEFICIARIES:     980,00 €

 

The beneficiaries who participated in the program were 23 in total.

Indicatively:


Mrs. A. hosted for 2 nights. She is a refugee from Syria. We offered her and her baby accommodation until she departs for Eidomeni.

Mr. P. hosted for 1 night. He passed out due to malnutrition. So, we offered him accommodation in order to recover.

Mr. X. hosted for 3 nights. He was in need of taking care his personal hygiene. After his accommodation he departed for the country so as to be hosted by his cousin.

Mrs. M. hosted for 1 night. She needed, as well, to take care of her personal hygiene. The exact next day, she had a job interview and eventually, she got hired.


In the meantime, participants received material and psychological support, as well as employment advisory by Emfasis Social Support Corner and continued individual meetings with the Street Work team.
