This projects aim to provide the flood-affected communities in Thessaly Region (GR) with humanitarian aid in order to relieve, support & empower the locals after the unprecedented natural disaster Daniel which has affected directly more than 700k people by the loss of property, job & trades.
On September 2023, Thessaly Region (Volos & Karditsa especially) faced a catastrophe of enormous proportions due to unprecedented floods. Thousands of houses are now unlivable, requiring huge repairs & equipment purchases. In addition, considering that a large part of the local population living from the cultivation of the land lost not only their homes but also their income, the humanitarian aid the region will need in the following months is out of reach.
The Emfasis Team has already activated its protocol, adjusting its regular schedule in order to implement Emergency Relief Measures in order to stand by our people who suffer. We will be able to broaden and deepen our support, with your help, starting with the coverage of basic needs: masks - gloves - toothpaste - baby wipes - cleaning soap - cans with condensed food - water - juices - snacks - blankets - clothes - house cleaning supplies etc.
With your contribution we will be able to provide humane living conditions to our beneficiaries & provide them with decent solutions to their most urgent needs. By remaining on the field, our teams will be able to offer guidance and advice. This will be extremely beneficial for the mental health situation of the victims. What is more, with our know-how we could drastically reduce the implications of the housing insecurity that they have been experiencing & will experience the following months.
