Update Jan 2021

Thank you everyone for helping us continue our service activities during the challenging Covid times.

We successfully completed the Hostel block for staff members on Dassera Oct 25th, 2020. Since then, we have been working on completing other pending construction work like an extension of the compound wall outside the Girls Block.

We have applied for permission for our own School on the Dundigal campus. We expect the process to culminate by the end of this month. We will be able to set up the school in June 2021.

To make sure the school has enough infrastructure, we are starting the addition of more classrooms in the Main Scphoorti Building. This consists of adding a complete floor on the top of the existing structure and the addition of a few bathrooms behind the building. The total expected cost is $280,000

We seek your blessings and support to this initiative.

By the way, our Forest is growing well. From next year, it will be able to take care of itself.

Wish you A Happy Makara Sankranthi !!

Thank you for your support of all our campaigns on GlobalGiving. This particular campaign has been receiving your patronage for several years now.

In October, there was flooding in Hyderabad and a lot of people lost their belongings and were left with nothing. Sphoorti chipped in by providing food and other essentials for such families with a particular focus on children so that they do not starve.

In November and December, we have been focusing on providing warm clothing to deal with the hardships the falling temperatures present to poor and homeless children. We have distributed more than 1000 sweaters to children in Hyderabad and other places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Distribution of Grocery Kits to Private School Teachers – A Short Report

As Covid 19 raised its head in India, educational institutions all over the country were closed down in the third week of March 2020. There was a complete lockdown and every sector in the economy and every walk of life came to a standstill.

After the lockdown was lifted, most people went back to their normal lives as the economy was opened up. As the schools were still closed, most private schools were not able to recover fees from their students. This resulted in an acute financial crisis for most schools. Many schools either terminated their teachers or paid little salaries.

In view of the continued hardship being faced by the private teachers, Sphoorti Foundation identified 1200 teachers from 25 Private Schools in Hyderabad and Medchal districts. They complied with our stipulation that the details of the beneficiaries (phone numbers and residential addresses) must be provided upfront.

We completed the distribution between Aug 12 and Oct 20. All the teachers expressed their gratitude for helping them in these challenging circumstances.

Sphoorti Foundation looks forward to more opportunities to work with you in the years to come.
