For about a year, we have been serving food to homeless people and also attendants of patients in Government hospitals in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. We have been involved in many activities like distribution of groceries to those affected by Covid19 and floods etc. as well as providing blankets and sweaters in winter months. This gift will give us flexibility in our work, help us save on transportation costs and support more people in need.
Sphoorti has been running Annadaanam Program (Food Donation) for homeless and needy in Tirupati. We have been covering the entire municipal area identifying people who are facing starvation. We are hiring private vehicles for transportation and incurring high rental costs. The overhead expenses are burgeoning with time.
A vehicle will help us reduce costs of our Annadaanam program and help us feed more people who are in need of food. The vehicle will also be useful for our other activities like disaster relief like distribution of groceries and medicines during Covid19 and floods in Chittoor district, distribution of winter clothing in interior areas where public transport is not present.
In the long run, our program will provide food to more people in need and distress. We will be saving people from death by starvation.
