COVID is still around. I hope you are doing fine when you read this report. Caring yourself is not selfish but it helps you retrieving and be sustainable. Our grassroots leaders are the same! Loads of work in the personal life while they face a lot of challenges at work. It's time to sit down and reflect.
After two years learning journey, it's time to unlearn what we've learnt! We decided to set up a group of study group to read different articles or find speakers to talk about different kinds of transformative leadership and feminist mentorship. Through the process, we hope to co-create by the participants. We learn and unlearn together at the same time. We just started two sessions and we see their passion and active involvement in the process. We see changes is happening.
We invite you to join us to keep this changing possible! We need more undesignated donation to allow the learning in a more flexible way.
All the best!
I hope you are doing well physically, psychologically and mentally. It's important to take care of our well-being, especially during pandemic days. It's equally important for the women leaders in the community.
Hong Kong is a crowded and high GDP area. Our apartment is very small but expensive. During the pandemic period, carers have to stay at home with kids and family members together. They need to serve as housekeeping, teachers, and technical support. Migrant domestic workers are the same. With the request by their employers, they have to stay home and no chance to meet friends during the weekend. Organizers of the organizations/groups are very stressed because they need to fulfil the funding requirements while they can't hold any activity. They have lots of work to care for the community but no time and energy to take care of themselves.
We see well-being, self-reflection of using power and leadership style, etc. are important elements to be a feminist leader. We seldom have space to pause, reflect and listen to our inner self. We created an opportunity for women leaders to come together to do collective care, to reflect our way of thinking and doing.
One workshop is not enough. It's a long journey to make it sustainable. It is impossible to achieve it without your donation support.
Please invite your friends, colleagues and company to DONATE and support the grassroots and marginalized women leaders in Hong Kong.

Financial Management is something always being a challenging topic to all organisations, especially small and grassroots organisations. These organisations may not have members or staff or volunteers to have an accounting background but they have to do it in a good way for their organisation sustainability especially during the economic recession period.
With a partnership with a group of professional accountants, we are providing tailor-made financial management training to six women and sexual minorities groups to grow their capacity on financial management. During COVID days, we started to do it last week through zoom. However, we also arranged on-site technical support to grassroots women who are not good at technology so we hope that it is not an obstacle for them to learn.
Your continuous support is very important for us to keep our support to women's leaders and their organisations to keep advancing women's rights and gender equality. Please share to your friends and encourage them to walk the journey with us together by donating to support HER Fund!
Thank you and wish you have a healthy, safe and joyful year 2021!
best,
Judy Kan
Thank you for your continuous support! As you may know, Hong Kong was affected by COVID-19 since late January and we have not recovered yet like other areas. The social distancing make our work even more challenging but it does not stop our mission to support the women's leaders.
HER Fund launched a three-part series of online workshops for our grantee partners to explore the core theme of Feminist leadership, "Power".
The aim of the workshops is to explore and reflect on being more conscious of power dynamics. Leaders from six organizations engaged in the online series and shared how they could be more can be more considerate and aware of their colleagues' feelings and needs, which leads to a better people-oriented mindset. The group practiced nonviolent communication, held in-depth sharing, and appreciated each other's characteristics, all the ingredients needed to lead with a feminist perspective.
Without your donation, we cannot provide all these workshops to keep women's leaders have the strength to resist and to have resilience capacity to face all challenges. Please help to spread the word and encourage your friends to support us!
Thank you very much and we wish you stay safe and healthy too!
best regards,
Judy Kan
