Dear Darfur Women Network’s family - Water Project supporters,
Your generous donations have been the only source that secured water containers for Darfur refugees in Chad. Thank you, your strong support makes a difference!
Water containers are still one of the most essential needs, however, the reduction of the food portion that the World Food Program provides to refugees.
As a result, more than 2,500 refugee families- the majority of women and children left the camp in groups of 10 or 15 families, seeking agricultural land and permission for farming. They loaded their important belonging on their donkeys and the people including children walked over 55 KM uncertain of their destination and their fate. They decided to not leave their children to die in the camp from hunger. Please find the video attached depicting the current situation.
DWN is grateful for GlobalGiving’s response to this situation by providing a $ 10,000.00 grant to provide waterproof sheets, personal hygiene items, and food to these families- the average size of a family is 6 persons. We appreciate your passionate lifesaving assistance to the refugees in Chad.
I would like to share with you an exciting news! The Darfur Women Network has been awarded the Best Nonprofit of 2023 by the Indianapolis Award Program.
We're deeply grateful to everyone who has supported DWN. This achievement is the result of a collective effort, compassionate work, and the kindness of an amazing, diverse community all working together towards our goal of assisting refugees in Darfur.

Dear Darfur Women Network Family,
On behalf of Darfur Women Network, Inc, DWN, would like to express our gratitude for your generous donation and your passionate support. With your generosity and your support during this difficult time, the DWN has been able to provide essential services to the refugees from Darfur in Touloum camp in Chad.
With your contribution, DWN and its volunteers have provided drinking water and water containers for the survivors of genocide in Darfur, who are residents of the Darfur refugees’ camp in Chad. After a rainy season, our volunteers in the camp clean up the buried drinking water wells in the camp for years. However, this year, DWN has the plan to provide 1000 families with water containers (5 gallons).
We distributed 680 water containers; two water containers were given to each family. Now, we are looking forward to working with you to achieve our goals which are meeting the need of 1000 families, are you ready to help refugees from Darfur in refugees camp in Chad?
Why are water containers important?
The refugees retrieve water from wells in water containers. They use the same water container as water storage in the shelter. In the camp, there are no jobs and no income. 85% of the refugees are women and children. Thus, they can’t afford to purchase water containers. They have to melt the broken plastic water containers to weld the container holes. Water containers are still needed.
Current situation:
The fighting between two armed forces that was started on April 15th, is still going on.
• At least 427 people have been killed and over 3,700 injured due to the conflict.
• Prices of essential items are sharply increasing due to shortages.
• At least 11 health facilities have been attacked and many are no longer functional in Khartoum and Darfur States.
• Civilians are fleeing areas affected by fighting, including to Chad, Egypt, and South Sudan.
• Several humanitarian organizations have evacuated or relocated their staff from locations where operations are not currently feasible.
Displacement of civilians has been reported in the capital of Sudan and in Darfur.
We hope for peace and stability soon and assess the need of people and work with our volunteers to serve our people who are affected by the consequence of the fighting. We praying for the safety of our volunteers, beneficiaries, our guard, and the women’s center. We don’t have information due to the absence of the Internet and communication as well as the insecurity situation.
We appeal to you to extend a helping hand to provide food, medicine, and relief supplies for our people in Sudan. We ask you to pray that God lifts this disaster from our country and people as soon as possible, and we appreciate all your support. May God bless your heart.

Darfur Women Network is dedicated to serving displaced, refugees, and conflict-affected families, who are the survivors of the Darfur genocide by providing them access to economic empowerment, water, efficient cooking stoves, and capacity building to achieve sustainable community development and to break the poverty cycle.
The refugees are living in crowded camps in Chad after they fled Sudan to Chad. They are living in dire conditions. The camp we serve is located in the desert, with no jobs, social services, healthcare, lack of education, and water.
Due to a lack of income, the refugees can’t afford to secure water containers to fetch and store water in the camp. They walk five miles to fetch water, but they lose much of their water due to cracks, holes, and broken water containers.
Your donation helped us to distribute 680 water containers. We are honored to have you support our project to make refugees feel they are not alone.
Thank you so much for your kindness and your passionate support,

Dear Donors,
Greetings
Over the past year, Darfur Women Network (DWN) has supported women and children whose lives have been negatively impacted by decades of conflict in Darfur. The Water Project's goal is to provide clean water service to 7,000 families who are Darfur genocide survivors. The ponds are sources of drinking water that are not enclosed and get contaminated as they are shared with livestock. Due to deforestation, the wind gathers contaminants which fill and bury the wells.
DWN needs your support to provide necessary tools and safety equipment such as plastic boots, helmets, gloves, cords, and safety belts for refugee volunteers to clean up the buried wells and also provide the refugees with water containers to store water for a longer time. This will directly benefit in securing safe drinking water for the refugees in their camp in Chad.
This November 29, from 12:00 a.m. ET to 11:59 p.m. ET, GlobalGiving will giveaway $1.2 million to nonprofits around the world as part of their #MoveAMillion campaign for GivingTuesday. Your donation will help us unlock a greater share of those bonus funds!
Together, we can help empower Darfuri women to live a dignified and empowered life. Mark your calendars today! Our link https://goto.gg/44315
Thank you for your continued support and generosity,
