Clean Water, Safe Lives: 2024 Water Containers Impact Report
Empowering Refugee Families in Chad
A Lifeline in Every Drop
Access to clean water is a basic human right, yet for thousands of Darfur genocide survivors living in refugee camps in Chad, it has remained a daily challenge. Families often relied on unsafe and makeshift methods to collect and store water, increasing the risk of disease and hardship.
In 2024, the Darfur Women Network (DWN) took a bold step forward, ensuring that 1,618 refugee families now have access to safe water storage. Thanks to the incredible generosity of GlobalGiving and the Coronavirus Relief Fund, we successfully distributed 3,236 durable water containers, empowering families with safer, healthier, and more dignified lives.
Transforming Lives, Two Container at a Time
Health & Hygiene: Before this project, families stored water in damaged or repurposed containers, exposing them to contamination. Now, these new containers protect them from waterborne diseases.
Convenience & Safety: Women and children, often responsible for fetching water, now have lightweight and durable containers that make transport easier and reduce spills.
