At UWC Costa Rica we make the impossible possible: we bring together 200+ students from 70+ different countries from across the socio-economic spectrum. Our cross-subsidized tuition model and strong philanthropy program make it so 80% of our students to receive the financial aid they need. And we don't stop there! Our distinctive educational model, grounded on experiential learning, empowers our students to become empathic agents of change committed to shaping a better future.
Our world is facing many complex and oftentimes overwhelming challenges like climate change, inequality, the immigration crisis, and the political and social conflict flaring up in many countries. Although we have never been more connected and informed, we also had never struggled so much to find truth and empathy. Our communities and our planet face serious challenges and we need to empower young people to address them.
At UWC Costa Rica, education helps us understand each other better and see the world with more compassion. We bring together young people who would otherwise never meet due to national, cultural and socio-economic barriers and empower them to listen and embrace new perspectives. Through experiential education, our students learn knowledge as well as values, soft skills in intercultural communication, conflict transformation, personal and social responsibility, leadership, and wellness.
Our students are young people with a passion for change. At UWC Costa Rica, they are empowered by building on their optimism and courage and helping them find their voice and passions. We encourage them to give back to their communities and to stand up for those in need. Above all, they are taught to follow their own paths, and that even the smallest acts can make the world a better place. Our graduates spread our mission to be a force to unite people for peace and a sustainable future.
