Train 360 youths for the workplace in Sao Paulo

Six months after we have re-organized, we may say that our results are very good!

As you all know, Brazil is going through a serious economic, political and moral crisis. Unemployment is running at high levels and more that 13 million people are jobless.

In these circumstances, our association has been a haven for a few but very committed youths.  

At the end of June we delivered the DIPLOMAS to the first group that graduated in our new location and with a renewed teaching team. Needless to say how gratifying it was to see how happy all these young people were to have accomplished their course. Let´s wish them luck in their search for a job. We will keep you posted.

We believe we have built a solid foundation that will allow us to progressively expand and prepare more youths for the marketplace.

However, to do this, we need more funding. As usual, we are taking action to obtain more funds with specific fundraising initiatives, but because we are going through such a tough crisis, our fundraisers have not been as successful as in the past. Therefore, WE NEED MORE HELP FROM OUR GlobalGiving DONORS.

We also wanted to let you know that thanks to a couple of donors, we were able to build a library with 250 books already. This will be another source of entertainment and inspiration to our youths.

JUNE 15TH BONUS DAY !

On June 15th, GlobalGiving.org will be holding a Bonus Day with $110,000 available in matching funds. There will also be two $1,000 Bonus Prizes that will be awarded to the projects with the highest number of donors and the most funds raised on Bonus Day.

Because we are a "SUPERSTAR" in the GlobalGiving Reward Status, we will be eligible to receive a 50% match on online donations made between 9:00:01am EDT and 23:59:59pm EDT on June 15th.

This comes in at a very good time for us because we have made major changes to our organization and we need funds to further expand our program to give training to more youths.

As a reminder, due to the difficulties we were facing in the previous neighborhood - especially burglaries – we´ve decided to move to a safer location.

We are now fully installed and classes have resumed. We have gained a lot of notoriety in the neighborhood and there is increased demand for more registrations. We have added English classes to our program. Classes will start next week. And, by the way, we would like to thank CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS for donating the equivalent of US$ 1,100.00 in teaching books for our English course.

Small gestures sometimes give us great joys. Sandy (22), one of our youths one day came with a homemade cake to thank us. These were her words:

“I am so happy and I want to thank you. This course gives me hope. I thought 2016 would finish with no future in sight. But with ADAE ( Associação Danyann) everything has changed. I now see a future. Thank you so much”.

Our plan is still to expand from 23 to 50 pupils per 3 months cycle. We need your help!
