Train 360 youths for the workplace in Sao Paulo

Despite the fact that we did not reach the number of students we had forecasted for 2014, we are very satisfied with the quantity and the quality of the courses we have provided our youths (and the elderly!). It is rewarding to see that Associação Danyann: Aprender e Evoluir now has a name and a reputation and is spontaneously looked for for courses.

Two new and very important initiatives were developed in 2014:

-          We are teaching our students to create awareness about what is happening to our environment. The Association students have started a “Cleaning & Planting” initiative in the surroundings of its premises. Under the supervision of the municipality, students clean the sidewalks and parks and plant trees and bushes (check the photos).

-          A small shop was installed in the premises to sell second hand clothes that are donated to the Association. This is helping raise funds for our courses.

We are now fully installed and integrated in our new premises which we share with our new partners, Lar das Crianças Casa do Caminho (children affected with Down Syndrome). We have so far fully trained 600 children and adults and we will probably end the year with 800 trained students. All activities are being very popular: Computing, Administrative Assistant, Manual Crafts, Cooking, Ballet, School Help, Manicure, Capoeira and Music.

This month a new group of students - including some with Down Syndrome - have completed their courses and found a job!
