We are excited to inform you that we were able to have a white canes program in partnership with the government and we able to admnister white canes to our students. We still have a dire need for braille materials and teachers as well. We hope to be able to get that soon . Plans are underway for a possible partnership with a braille non profit organizations.
Braille materials have become costly and its making it hard to provide this quality education for the children. Having we still do have faith that we can. In order to keep them in school becuse failure to they are prone to dropout of school and stay at home.
However, with your help we can keep them in school.

By David Karanja | Project Leader
We want to firstly thank GlobalGiving for your generous donations. Our aim with this project is to be able to provide quality education for these special needs Children in the long term. By providing them the right learning materials e.g Brailles and other special need learning materials. Since currently they are only shairing one braille amongst themselves that we were able to buy some years back through your generous donations. Through your continued support we can provide them with more.
Currently, with our financial position we are only able to provide food in order to keep them coming to school. This is made possible by the help of the local community as well as other well wishers. We don't take it for granted.
Siaka special school is a school for the visually impared pupils. The pupils are aged from 6- 16 years. The school is located in Siaka, Bungoma County. However, the school faces a myriad of challenges including the lack of braille, braille paper, special needs learning material, insufficient food, poor infastructure, lack of electricity among others. Tumaini as an organization has been assisting Siakaschool for special children and with the help of various well wishers and GlobalGiving we have been able to mobilize funds that has enable us build a dormitory as well as a kitchen garden for the school.
Lately, we have been providing the school with food e..g maize, flour, beans just name a few. We have been able to meet the nutritonal need of the children and we are looking forward to get them more brailles and learning materials that aid in admnistering education value.
Thankyou so much GlobalGiving for your assistance . We hope to get more donors and well wishers enable us to meet the needs for Siaka Special school.
