In this complex 21st century economy, one potential way of integrating young people into the labor market is to increase youth entrepreneurship. Becoming an entrepreneur offers benefits to the young person through deepening their human capital attributes (self-reliance, skill development) and increasing their levels of happiness. Entrepreneurs create jobs, increase innovation, raise competition and are responsive to changing economic opportunities and trends. NATCCO believes in the capacity and potential of young people to create opportunities for themselves and live a life of creativity, success, and service through entrepreneurship thus we conducted the 2-leg Youth Entrepreneurship Training that aimed to provide an avenue for entrepreneurship ideas, innovation, and teamwork.
Last April 24-25, 2019, NATCCO held a two-day Youth Entrepreneurship Training at Goducate Training Center, San Miguel, Iloilo. We had a wonderful opportunity to train 29 aspiring young entrepreneurs from Visayas region during this 1st leg of the training. We are extremely grateful for all youth participants for their dynamic participation as they represent each of their Cooperatives to set an exemplary contribution to the community as young entrepreneurs. The training also provided our young leaders with additional take-aways of a timely topic on how to become a responsible voter in preparation for the recently concluded May 2019 Philippine Elections.
Then, a month after, we successfully conducted the 2nd leg of the Youth Entrepreneurship Training, this time in Luzon Region. It was attended by 49 young entrepreneurs and was held in Ban-aw Resort, Candon City, Ilocos Sur on May 23-29, 2019. The three-day training was designed to introduce entrepreneurial concepts to aspiring youth entrepreneurs with a glimpse of being literate in a digital economy, with a whole day of benchmarking to two of the most successful cooperative partners in youth development. This paved way for the participants to witness and hear the Stories of Innovation from one of the biggest cooperative in Luzon, Sacred Heart Savings Cooperative and Sta. Cruz Savings Development Cooperative, through a study-visit in one of their branches.
Our vision to create positive change-makers in the country is enabled through creating young entrepreneurs who could contribute to the social issues beginning in their community. We believe that this opportunity to hear about their potential to become entrepreneurs inspired them to create a more meaningful personal vision beginning with themselves and their involvement in the Cooperatives, and eventually responding to a much bigger issue of the society.
We are grateful and overwhelmed of the support our partner cooperatives have granted and giving their young leaders the opportunity to be exposed in the field of enterprise. And we are also grate to your generous help, Global Givers. May we continue to deepen and reach the personal vision of the young leaders of our generation!
