Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. We are happy to report that the entrepreneurs that we were able to support are now providing value added to their products. Most of these are centered on the processing of fresh fruits and vegetables in order to extend the shelf-life as well as to improve marketing. One of the agricultural ventures that we are promoting is the raising of ducks for eggs and meat and this reporting period we succeeded in producing salted eggs from duck eggs. Salted egg is a delicacy here and commands high price besides it last long. Five of our entrepreneurs are engaged in this business. Hoping for your continuing support.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora

Product with good market potential
Product with good market potential

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for supporting our project providing small business for poor entrepreneurs. Poor entrepreneurs are not bankable and they have difficulty finding source of their capital in order to start or scale-up their business. This is indeed a problem and there are socialized credit schemes available for them but the procedure of applying for a loan is difficult and complicated. This reporting period, we are trying to explore possibilities of small-scale support for non-bankable and high credit-risk small-scale entrepreneurs and at the same time promoting and showcasing their products in order to find good market outlets. There are a lot of resources that can be tapped in order for various business to be started and to grow. We aim to develop and promote at least 10 of these product lines in the coming months.

Hoping for your generous support.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora

Goat livelihood
Goat livelihood

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for supporting our initiative supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. This reporting period we focused on providing goats as one of the best livelihood option for small scale farm-holders. This is because goats are easy to raise, do not need purchased food and they can grow on local grasses. We trained the beneficiaries to either tether the goats if their farm area is small or are already fully planted with crops or the goats can just roam around if their area is large. The goats can be used for their meat or for the milk. Demand in the market for goats is always high. We are able to disperse a total of 8 female goats this reporting period.

Thank you very much for your generous support.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora Sayre

Providing ducklings
Providing ducklings

Dear Friend,

Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. This project is very urgent in the sense that poor entrepreneurs have very little access to productive credit and they often resort to borrowing from usurers at very high rates of interest. Profit in this manner is very low and the payment of the loans eats up most of it. Our strategy is in not providing them with direct cash amount but provide them with farming inputs that they are able to use to expand their business. This reporting period we provided 10 entrepreneurs with ducklings that they can grow for their meat and eggs when the ducks mature. Each of them were provided with 20 ducklings each.

Hoping for your continuing generosity.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora

Producing organic fertilizer
Producing organic fertilizer

Dear Friend,

Warmest greetings and thank you for your generous support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. The project is very crucial in improving the lives of poor families here because when they go into small business, they are able to generate value-added for their farm production. Crops especially vegetables have very low shelf-life and their prices drops down very quickly. This is a headache for farmers. One of their problems they voiced during one of our visit to them is the very high price of farming inputs especially fertilizer for their crops. During this reporting period, we trained a group of farmers to produce their own organic fertilizer for use in their own farms as well as to sell to neighboring farmers in order for them to generate income. We are fortunate to get support from the agriculture department here for the use of a heavy-duty organic waste shredder. The group aim to produce 3 tons of organic fertilizer for the market every month.

Hoping for your continuing support.

Very sincerely yours,

Cora
