Ducks as good business
By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Providing ducklings
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. This project is very urgent in the sense that poor entrepreneurs have very little access to productive credit and they often resort to borrowing from usurers at very high rates of interest. Profit in this manner is very low and the payment of the loans eats up most of it. Our strategy is in not providing them with direct cash amount but provide them with farming inputs that they are able to use to expand their business. This reporting period we provided 10 entrepreneurs with ducklings that they can grow for their meat and eggs when the ducks mature. Each of them were provided with 20 ducklings each.
Hoping for your continuing generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora

Producing organic fertilizer

Producing organic fertilizer
Dear Friend,
Warmest greetings and thank you for your generous support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. The project is very crucial in improving the lives of poor families here because when they go into small business, they are able to generate value-added for their farm production. Crops especially vegetables have very low shelf-life and their prices drops down very quickly. This is a headache for farmers. One of their problems they voiced during one of our visit to them is the very high price of farming inputs especially fertilizer for their crops. During this reporting period, we trained a group of farmers to produce their own organic fertilizer for use in their own farms as well as to sell to neighboring farmers in order for them to generate income. We are fortunate to get support from the agriculture department here for the use of a heavy-duty organic waste shredder. The group aim to produce 3 tons of organic fertilizer for the market every month.
Hoping for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora

Spiced vinegar
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your support to our project supporting small business for poor entrepreneurs. Most often poor entrepreneurs lack the capital in order to pump-prime their business and they resort to borrowing from moneylenders at very high interest rates. Instead of improving their living conditions, they become more destitute and mired in debts that they have difficulty to pay. Our accomplishment this reporting period is that we are able to tap local resources in the area and asssist a total of 55 entrepreneurs mostly women develop their own product lines. The products that they started with are coconut vinegar from coconut water, spiced chili paste, turmeric powder, production of organic fertilizer, raising of ducks for eggs and meat and raising of chickens and goats. We designed our initiative in such a way that repayments will be used by other beneficiaries wishing to undertake or expand their own livelihoods.
Again thank you very much.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
