Empowering Women and Girls Through Reproductive Health Advocacy

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) remains steadfast in its mission to raise awareness about reproductive health and post-rape services, especially among young girls and women. Despite facing funding challenges this quarter, our commitment to community sensitization has not wavered. We have continued to advocate for access to vital health services through innovative approaches, including radio broadcasts, due to the suspension of community and school visits caused by the Ebola outbreak.

This quarter, we utilized radio platforms to reach a wider audience, sensitizing the public on critical issues surrounding reproductive health, post-rape care, and abortion services. We also hosted girls on our talkshows, creating a safe space for them to share their experiences and challenges in accessing these services. Our efforts aim to increase awareness about the urgency of timely post-rape care and to urge national and community leaders to ensure comprehensive services are accessible in all communities.

Your contributions enable PLANE to expand the "Every Hour Matters" campaign, particularly in the districts of Kabarole, Fort Portal City, and Mbarara—areas where HIV prevalence remains alarmingly high. Notably, 48.5% of women with unintended pregnancies are rural residents, while 35.9% are urban dwellers. Your support is vital in empowering adolescents and women to access life-saving post-rape services and reproductive health care, ultimately saving lives and fostering healthier communities.
