Education-the key to success

By Tara Gautam | Project Manager

Thank for your ongoing support for our Education in Nepal project.

Our project focusses on improved resources, positive learning environments and learning experiences for children.

Celebrating National Children’s day was a highlight of the quarter. It is a time to acknowledge the importance of education for children and the right to play, explore, socialise and have fun. All aspects of healthy development and learning.

We have continued our work in improving school facilities. Recently our team renovated two  classrooms at a partner school.  This included a class mural of the Himalayas. Improving the learning environments for the students and their teachers means a comfortable, safe and stimulating learning environment.  This supports students' capacity to learn and provides teachers with a more positive workplace.

We have also continued our work with making and repairing desks for schools. The desks seat two to three students and have storage underneath for books and other belongings. This means students can store their materials safely and they are not tripping hazards in the classrooms. It also allows for easy access to resources during classtime. A classroom with ample seating for students is important. It is far easier to concentrate when you are not sitting on long bench seats or teachers trying to manage with a limited number of desks.

Our project also includes small group support for students.  This means that students receive additional support and guidance for their learning.  This is particularly crucial since school time has been so disrupted in recent years. Supporting students with their learning is helpful to both the teachers and students.

We thank you for your ongoing support for this project. We are delighted to see schools getting back to normal after a challenging couple of years and are keen to support schools wherever we can.

We look forward to providing our next update.
