Midday Meal for Children

Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

Thank you so much for your continuous support towards the Mid-day Meal program for children of our child labor rehabilitation center. Education and child labor are interrelated, and the elimination of child labor is central to the cause of universal education. As well as being the key to the overall development of any individual, education is the key to economic growth and sustainability for any country. HEARDS is known for its innovation, bravery, and multi-faceted approaches to the child labor problem. The movement addresses both the root causes and the horrific symptoms of child labor.

For nearly all of these children, their school meal is the only meal of the day. The children at the rehabilitation school were given good nutritious food like rice with dhal, vegetables, pulses and leafy vegetables in all the working days. Eggs were provided once in a week to the children to make them healthier. Children need nutritious meals in order to concentrate on their lessons at school - and to grow strong and healthy.

We feel happy to present the progress report of the child labor rehabilitation center. With the support received from an esteemed donor like you, many poor children get a good education and moral support. The Staff and the Teachers put their effort and commitment into the growth of the child labor rehabilitation center. This project really helps the children to get good education and to learn good habits. And also it reduces Child labor, Child delinquency and improves the knowledge, skill, and potentiality and become useful citizens of the nation.

Requesting you all to support us continuously to bring the child laborers in order to regain their lost childhood.

Eating Midday meal

Dear Supporters of HEARDS,

Firstly, let us pray and wish you all a Very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year 2022 on behalf of HEARDS - India!

We thank you from the core of our hearts for your valuable support!

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations’ State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World report, forecasts that the coronavirus could push over 132 million more people into chronic hunger by the end of 2020. This figure will be over and above the existing 690 million undernourished people, the study says. This setback further weakens the possibility to achieve Sustainable Development Goal Two, which aims for zero hunger by 2030, the report concludes.

The Midday meal program has played a significant role in increasing enrolment and improving attendance of children in our rehabilitation school, but it has far deeper implications – as it is one of the crucial ways to ensure the nutritional security of children. However, the scheme has faced massive challenges, when the COVID-19 lockdown was announced and our rehabilitation school was shut down. However, fortunately after mid of August 2021, fortunately, the Government has announced to reopen the rehabilitation school. All our children came back to the rehabilitation school but most of them are mal nutritious.

But we are very much happy and proud to inform you that we are providing a nutritious mid-day meal for kids which is certainly a boon for our kids because they already lost their three square meals a day. With your valuable support, we were able to extend this help, with your help the children are healthy, and they can able to concentrate on their education.

Eating Mid-day meal at rehabilitation center

Dear Esteemed Patrons,

Greetings to you from Health Education Adoption Rehabilitation Development Society (HEARDS) - India!

I hope and wish you were fine and safe there. Children are going through hard phases in their life because of continuous school shutdown due to COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Most of the children are not having 3 square meal a day. Due to this, most of the children are severely affected with malnutrition. The corona virus pandemic is driving up food insecurity among children. The nutritional status and resistance to infection have a strong relation and is important to address in children. Malnutrition tends to aggravate the risk to infections and vice-versa by decreasing appetite. India grapples with malnutrition despite program commitments like Integrated Child Development Services and Mid-Day Meal Scheme.

Their educational standard has come to a standstill. There are no online classes for these children. Most of these children parents are illiterates. Therefore, there is a inevitable need to educate after-school downtrodden children. However, this program can be carried forward only through the support of valuable donors like you. So please keep supporting us in order to bring the children back their educational standards.
