As we formally close this project on GlobalGiving, we are grateful for the opportunity to share the meaningful progress made through the Joyful Learning After School Program in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Thanks to your generosity, Give Chances has been able to provide children in this rural community with access to quality education that would otherwise be out of reach.
Since its launch in 2023, the Joyful Learning program has worked to break the cycle of poverty by delivering foundational English and STEM education to underserved students. Through a hybrid learning model, pairing live virtual lessons from native English-speaking instructors with in-person classroom support from local educators, we have created a learning environment that both strengthens academic skills and builds confidence, curiosity, and long-term aspirations.
Over the past year, students have achieved significant milestones. They have developed strong foundational English skills and recently mastered phonics—an achievement that will support future literacy and learning. In STEM, students have strengthened core concepts such as mathematical problem solving and logical reasoning. This hybrid structure has proven to be especially effective in communities where access to qualified instructors is limited, and we have seen measurable growth in students’ engagement and performance.
This project would not have been possible without the commitment and generosity of our donors and community partners. Your support has created lasting change by equipping young learners with the essential skills needed to thrive in a global economy. The impact of your contributions will continue far beyond the lifespan of this project, as these students carry forward the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities you have helped them build.
While this GlobalGiving project is now coming to a close, our work in uplifting the underserved with educational resources continues.
