Give Chances has been working to break the cycle of poverty through access to quality education. Through our Joyful Learning After School Program, we provide English and STEM education to students who have long been underserved by traditional education systems. Since its launch in Ethiopia in 2023, the program has helped students build foundational English skills, master phonics, and strengthen STEM concepts like problem solving through a hybrid model combining live virtual lessons from native English-speaking instructors and in-person classroom support from local educators.
This summer, we expanded internationally, offering weekly online English lessons to children in India and Burkina Faso. In Burkina Faso, twenty students joined us via Zoom for ten lively sessions through June, practicing introductions with grammar, such as be verbs, playing interactive bingo, and engaging in listening and speaking activities. Even across screens and time zones, the energy was vibrant—students shared positive feedback, and some even said they wanted to become English teachers, inspired by their lessons. They are looking forward to continuing in the upcoming fall semester.
We are grateful to our community partners and supporters whose generosity makes these programs possible. Your support is transforming lives, inspiring young learners with the language and technical skills they need to thrive in a global world. Together, we are giving chances and creating lasting change for children across Africa.
