This project provides English and STEM education to the children of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Our program offers a K-12 English curriculum that covers a broad range of skill levels, starting with phonics and moving towards advanced language proficiency. Our STEM component, taught to middle school and high school students, includes the basics of digital literacy, and will progress to higher-level STEM instruction in areas such as programming.
In Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, students face significant barriers to accessing quality English and STEM education. Limited resources, a lack of trained educators, and inadequate infrastructure has left many young learners in the region without the foundational skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly globalized and technology-driven world. This has contributed to significant educational gaps, and these gaps continue the cycle of poverty and limit career opportunities for young students.
Our program bridges these gaps by delivering hybrid educational experiences to the students of Yirgacheffe. Using a combination of instruction by native English-speaking teachers and structured in-person classroom support by local educators, we provide students with high-quality English language and STEM education. Our curriculum is tailored to meet local needs, and combines interactive tools, real-world application, and hands-on activities to maximize learning outcomes.
By equipping students with critical skills in English and STEM, our program opens doors to higher education, employment, and increased economic mobility. This educational foundation not only empowers the individual students of Yirgacheffe, and also fosters a generation of problem-solvers and leaders that are ready to face the challenges of our changing world. Over time, we believe that our program has the potential to uplift entire communities, breaking the oppressive cycle of poverty.
