This project is part of Give Chances' DDartists Program, through which artists with developmental disabilities are provided with the art resources they need to create their own artworks, prevocational training, and broadened networks with other creatives and the community at large. It fosters a compassionate environment, and empowers participants to explore their artistic talents while developing vital life skills.
Many creatives with developmental disabilities face the challenge of providing opportunities and support for individuals with developmental disabilities to express their creativity, gain confidence, and showcase their talents. Obstacles such as social and economic barriers limit their access to inclusive platforms for artistic development and recognition, as well as a means of gaining financial and personal independence.
The DDartists program offers weekly sessions where artists with developmental disabilities engage in specialized tracks like fine art and digital art, tailored to their unique interests and abilities. It emphasizes job training, like resume writing and computer use, to enhance employability. By organizing annual exhibitions and community outreach events, the DDartists program aims to not only provide artists with a creative environment, but also a bridging connection to the community at large.
The DDartists program cultivates lasting artistic skills and provides prevocational training that enhances employability for individuals with developmental disabilities. Through art sales, exhibitions, and community engagements, participants gain opportunities to generate their own income. This, coupled with prevocational and artistic training, empowers them to achieve self-sufficiency, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully to society.
