At the moment, we are working with 76 Schools and Nature Club established in those schools, located in different districts of Nepal. Facilitating students to organize different activities to support their education & knowledge as well as motivate them to initiate activities to save our local environment are the major priorities when we work with them. To get a new perspective towards of program designing and implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of past activities plays a crucial role. Hence, a team led my Ms. Amala (Ex. Com. Member of ECCA), did a monitoring and evaluation of all the nature clubs and schools to identify their activities and performance in school and the community. Distribution of scholarship for the students best 10 school so as to motivate the students to organize different creative activities in their schools and community in coming days ahead was the main objective of the M&E. In addition to that sharing of activities implemented by different nature club to enhance the knowledge of students were also a hidden motive behind the evaluation.

The M&E team concluded with the top 10 Schools and Nature Club who were supported through the scholarship were as follows:

  1. Tri Ratna Cooperative School
  2. Lalit Kalyan Lower Secondary School
  3. Mahendra Gram Secondary School
  4. prabhat Higher Secondary School
  5. Shree Krishna Higher Secondary Sdhool
  6. Tika Bhairab English School
  7. Kitini Higher Secondary School
  8. Bal Kumari Secondary School
  9. Shree Kalidhunga  Higher Secondary School
  10. Bishankhu Narayan Secondary School

Mrs. Mansuli Maharjan, teacher of Tri Ratna Cooperative School, expressed “Monitoring and evaluation of Nature club activities in our school motivated our students to plan and organize various activities in school and in community. In addition to that, the Scholarship provided for our students boosted their morals and are highly encouraged to organize activities through nature club in coming days ahead”.

Mr. Bishnu Bhattarai, teacher of Sarashwoti Higher Secondary School, expressed “Even though the nature club of our school could not make it in the list of top 10 schools, our students felt competitiveness with other nature club. They are determined to win in next year’s evaluation which I feel is a very good sign for students which will definitely increase the knowledge and skills through their various activities”.

We would like to express our thank to the M&E team for their time and dedication for conducting the evaluation of Schools and Nature Clubs where we are working. In last educational fiscal year, nearly 196 students were granted scholarship which included a set of materials as bag, note books, Stationary and mathematical instrumental box. With the initiation of new educational fiscal year, we have now started to receive request letter from nature club and schools stating to support the talented and needy students with scholarship. With the receipt of these requests, we are preceding the procurement of the scholarship materials to be granted for the students. A plan of distribution of approx 200 scholarship is being targeted this year. But, prior to the distribution of scholarship in different schools and to the students, we are conducting monitoring and evaluation to analyze the impact made through the previous year’s scholarship distribution.

Executive Member Secretary of ECCA – Ms. Amala Tuladhar is taking the lead in the process of monitoring and evaluation. She has been visiting different schools in order to interact with members of nature club and inspect the activities they had been conducting. In the mean time, she is also inspecting the progress in educational level of the students who were granted with the scholarship in last fiscal year. Ms. Sushila Tamrakar (Nature Club facilitating teacher of Lalit Kalyan Lower Secondary School) expressed her feeling towards monitoring and evaluation as an important activity to evaluate and motivate students and members of Nature Club. This had motivated students towards organizing further more activities in their school and community which will lead towards the development of leadership skills in the students.

We would like to thank you for your continuous support and believing and supporting us in our campaign. Because of YOU, we have been able to bring changes in the life of needy people in Nepal. Supporting Dustbin for Nature Club
Supporting Dustbin for Nature Club

Since the beginning of ECCA's establishment, ECCA has been working for the promotion of School Environment Improvement in schools located in the rural as well as urban areas of Nepal. The schools which lack basic facilities in the school are mainly targeted as our program areas so as to achieve our vision and mission of improved school condition in Nepal.

5 parameters - Managed Classroom, Safe Drinking Water, Safe Sanitation, Open Space and Greenery and Parents, Teachers & Students relationship are our major concern while working in school environment improvement in schools. Effective mobilization of students, teachers and parents is one of the major tool that we use to achieve our vision through involving them in various programs like training, interaction and discussion meetings. Through various programs organized for different stakeholders, the relations between them are strengthened so that it ensures the effective communication between the stakeholders and the vision and objective towards the school is kept intact.

Among various stakeholders, Nature Club activities and mobilization of nature club members plays a vital role towards improving school environment. Their activities in school like competitions, awareness campaigns, interaction programs etc makes them aware in different aspects of self centered skill development as well as their involvement in school programs. Classroom management is one among various activities that are conducted by the students in school. Hence, in this quarter, 3 Nature Club members were supported with dustbins to be placed in their classroom as it plays a vital role to keep the classroom clean. Keeping classroom clean also helps the students to learn good behavior and bring positive attitude in their skills.

We would like to thank you all for your continuous support and encouragement towards the work we are implementing in the schools of Nepal. Your small contribution is definitely worthy for the students of Nepal.

Please feel free to send us your valuable suggestions and feedback towards the program that we are implementing in our email address ecca@mos.com.np.

Because of your support, 47 students studying in 8 different schools were saved from being dropped out from their school in this fiscal year. These students from grade 6 to 8 were identified and selected by the members of children club being operated in the school. Due to poor economic condition, these students were about to drop their schools as they were not being able to fulfil their need of school tuition fees and stationary. All the students were provided a set of stationary, books and partial tuition fees to their schools.

To increase your support, 63 youths had joined our hands in “Support-A-Child” campaign. They organized one day hiking program on October 6th so as to raise funds for the campaign and support scholarship.

We seek your support to bring more impact in the life of these students studying in rural areas. You can increase your impact in “Support-A-Child” Campaign through donating in October 17th, 12:00 Noon EST onwards Global Giving bonus day. Global Giving is providing 30% matching bonus up to US $ 50,000.
