It is a great joy to see hope being restored to a pregnant woman who hardly knows where the next meal will come from, let alone the resources for her pregnancy. Such women end up in the hand of unskilled attendants, thus reducing their hope of surviving the ordeals of pregnancy. The outcome of the recent event by Oak Rural Health Organization where malaria prevention, health education and adequate nutrition were the focus; restored hope to many.
Illiteracy and poverty were from our experience, prominent factors exposing local women to complications of pregnancy and hence maternal and child mortality. Oak Rural Health Organization, after educating the pregnant women, also distributed multivitamins and malaria prevention medicines to all the women in attendance. This simple act of kindness attracted many women to our project centre where they now receive professional care and support during pregnancy.
Every step taken during this project implementation brings out testimonies which keep the program on track. The number of life saved and the babies born through the help of this project are credited to your generosity and open heart. This project still needs more in order to keep alife the women and babies who could otherwise have fallen into wrong hands.
