According to official data more than five million students did not enroll in the 2020-2021 school year. Three million of them are in elementary and middle school, the rest in high school and college. The crisis affects both basic and higher education.
School dropout increased during the pandemic, especially in the lower socio-economic strata. The lack of resources such as internet and mobile devices, of proper accompaniment that can help to adapt to new learning processes and the lack of motivation in the post-pandemic context are the main causes.
The Peraj program becomes more relevant given the new challenges facing education in Mexico. At the start of the 2021-22 school year we face a gradual return to the classrooms. Our mentors will be interacting with their mentees in a mixed way, both face-to-face and remotely according to their schools authorities and national and local health guidelines.
Peraj's intervention will aim to support the return of our mentees to the classrooms and their possibilities to attend on-line classes. In parallel many of the activities will be focused on the development of cognitive and emotional skills such as communication, resilience, tolerance, creativity and problem solving,
We invite you to follow and support Peraj.
