Dear Donors,

First of all, we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on behalf of all the beneficiaries of the project you have supported.

Thanks to your donations, all of them have been able to attend to the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island. May all your generosity multiply!

We are glad to inform that the 4 students of Table and Bar we told you about in our last report (Juan, Milagros, Roxana and Mari Elena), as well as the 3 students of Accommodation (Ingrid, Wendy and Lilibeth) have already finished the indoor face of their careers (6 months). They are now waiting for an opportunity to start the practice face for another 6 months.

In addition, we have a new beneficiary of the transportation aid. His name is Ramon and he is currently studying electricity.

Finally, for this last report of the year some of the students wanted to write letters to the project donors (attached), to tell all of you how grateful they are and how important it has been for them, the support they have received from you.

Bellow, some fragments of what the wrote:

“(…) Thanks to the support you gave us, we were able to get more quickly to School. Thank you for helping me to make my dreams come true (…)”.

                                                                                                Juan

“(…) The transportation fee to go to school is very expensive and it is very difficult to get there too. Some days I have to take off my shoes or to ask for a ride under the rain, because I want to succeed and be better each day. Today, thanks to your donations, it is easier to get to school (…)”.

                                                                                                Lilibeth

“(…) I graduated from school on 2015 and I wanted to continue studying. I then contacted the Hernan Echavarria Foundation and started to study Table & Bar. It was difficult for me to get to school because it is expensive and there is not a real road, but paths, but thanks to your support, things have gotten better so I am very grateful (…)”.

                                                                                                Mari

Thank you again for all you have done to help us help them.

We will continue to post regular reports to keep you informed on the project progress.

 With gratitude,

Ana Milena Ordosgoitia and the Hernan Echavarria Foundation team

Dear Donors,

Let this be a new opportunity to thank you for your generous donations through Global Giving to support the project “Send Baru students to Training School for a year”.

We would like to start by telling you that thanks to your donations, we are currently supporting 7 new Baru students that attend to the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island: Maria, Roxana, Milagros, Juan, Ingrid, Wendy and Lilibeth.

Maria, Roxana, Milagros and Juan are studying Table & Bar, while Ingrid, Wendy and Lilibeth, are studying accommodation.

We have given them a total amount of $940.000 COP as transportation aid, since they started to study.

Regarding the first group of beneficiaries (7) we must tell that 2 local hotels hired 3 of them.

In addition to the information given above, we would like to tell you a little bit more about Lilibeth, one of the students from the new group you have supported.

Lilibeth was born in Baru. She currently studies accommodation and says she feels really good.

For Lilibeth as for the rest of people living in Baru, it is very difficult to go to Santa Ana to study, but thanks to your donations it has become easier to get there.

She wants to do the practice phase of her career in a local hotel and if it is possible, she wants to keep working there after the practice.

She is married and has a son. Her goal is to keep studying and to be a responsible person, capable of moving forward.

Lilibeth as well as her classmates are an inspiration for us in the Hernan Echavarria Olozaga. They motivate us to keep working towards helping Baru people to study and therefore improve their quality of life.

We invite you to watch Lilibeth's video in the link "Watch Lilibeth's video".

Thank you again for all you have done to help us help them.

We will continue to post regular reports to keep you informed on the project progress.

With gratitude,

The Hernan Echavarria Foundation team

Dear Donors,

Once again, we would like to thank you for your generous donations through Global Giving to support the project. Thanks to your generosity, Baru young people have the opportunity to transform positively their life’s studying different careers.

We are glad to inform that with the money we have raised for the project, 11 people have received a transportation aid to attend to the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island, 2 of which are already working.

4 new Baru students recently joined the project: Maria, Roxana, Milagros and Juan Daniel. Starting on May, they have received $100.000 Colombian Pesos every month, to attend to their classes in Santa Ana.

We would like to share with you some of their impressions regarding the transportation aid they are receiving:

“I am very happy because a never though I could study a career. I always told my mother that I wanted to study and that I would do whatever I had to, to do it. With this transportation aid is easier for me to go to school, because sometimes my mother doesn’t have money to give me so that I can get to Santa Ana”. Milagros

“In the Island there are limited options to study a career. This is why, when I heard about this opportunity I caught it, even thought at the beginning I was not sure that Table and Bar was what I wanted. But now, I don’t only like a lot what I am learning, but my classmates and professor". Juan Daniel

Thanks to all of you, to your constant support, the project has really impacted all the beneficiaries lifes.

For us in the Hernan Echavarria Foundation, it has been a great opportunity to learn from her commitment and desire to succeed no matter the sacrifices this might imply. This is an incentive for us to keep working.

We invite you to continue to work with us in order to achieve our total funding goal.

With gratitude,

¿How studying this career has changed your life?

"I can now help my husband, buy our things and move forward with my kids. Studying is the only way to have a better future".

¿What to do think about the Technical and Entrepreneurship School of Baru Island?

"It is a blessing for the Island, because it is an institution that let us form ourselves not only as thecnicians but as better human beings.

Thank you very much to all who have participated to make this process possible. I am thankful for having formed us and helped us to move forward. Thanks to the National Learning Service for the excelent classes. We no longer have to go to Cartagena to have the opportunity to study".
